Someone mentioned Jack Mosley. I don't remember Jack Mosley being all that bad. He wasn't overbearing, at least. The main complaint about Jack Mosley was that he wasn't an elite trainer. I don't think he tried to steal spotlight from Shane.

Shane's problem was letting a woman control him, not his dad.

I watched it today. Teo is a fuckin tard. There's zero left that's likable in this kid. Really really hope Josh retires him.

My head still says Lopez though.

Lol at Fimo’s Scottish accent attempt!

That said I like Fimo: as a boxer, as a person, and as a solid underdog in this match. He says what he thinks and he doesn’t filter everything to say the typical recycled crap that athletes are ‘supposed’ to say in interviews. He’s obviously not some great intellect, but I appreciate his candor as opposed to hiding behind scripted responses.

Fimo tries too hard to be like a Prince Naseem. I personally don’t think he’s all that charismatic.

I still think he’s gonna win. Youth and speed will tell the tale on Saturday night.

It's here, fellas! The biggest fight of 2023 thus far for us hardcores (obviously it will be surpassed next month). Fuck All that Tank-Ryan bullshit. I'm MUCH more hyped for this!

Final predictions from the forum. I've Fimo by UD. Hoping to Hell I'm wrong. I'll merge the other Taylor-Teo thread into this one, and we can use this one through the weekend and beyond.

Another good fight which should be a fun shootout while it lasts. I’m honestly still not sure about who is going to win because we’ve seen Teo look impressive and can pull off a surprise performance. The build up has been good. I just want to see a damn good scrap.

The thing about Fimo is, IMO he has not lost more than 5 rounds in any single fight (yes I believe he was mildly robbed vs Kambo, cannot for the life of me find which 6 rounds Kambo won). And he has been in against some very good boxers, including Lomachenko who he BEFUDDLED for half the fight. He is very high up on the underrated list right now.

Who’s the worst all-time boxing dad?

Wilfred Benitez and Jerry & Mike Quarry’s father come to mind.

The worst brother is probably Danny Carbajal. Most likely murdered his ex-wife, and stole Michael’s money.

The thing for me is as follows :- As dumb as Lopez is he can box smart. As smart as Taylor can be he's also boxed very dumb a la Catterall.

Taylor is tight at 140. Tighter than a frogs ass in the showers of the Frog Big House.

Lopez won't be tight but we don't know how good he'll be at the "bigger" weight.

We've seen Taylor beat good 140lbrs. So that's a major bonus for him. But Looez has the biggest win of either man. But again, it was at a lower weight and it was close.

If Lopez applies himself diligently and is better-or not overly hindered- by the higher weight, I'm favouring him.

But if he's open and stupid he'll get hit and it could be Taylors night.

My main concern, as a fan of neither guy, either historically or individually ( Zoo eats these guys, Judah beats them, Cotto beats them, Pac rapes them, Hatton flustigates them etc) is that it degenerates into a squabble and Lopez gets all the benefits of the doubts.

In fact, I'm convinced Lopez will get all the benefits. Any slip will be a 10-8, any headclash will be Taylors fault etc.

Great post, and I agree with every single word.

I just see Fimo, at this age, being more capable of putting in another top performance. I question if Josh can fight at Prograis level again, but if he can, he can win.

Hypothetically, if Lopez fights at Loma level, and Taylor fights at Regis level, then I'll take Josh, because even in the Loma fight, Fimo faded, whereas Josh outfought Regis down the stretch.

Also agreed that from a historical standpoint, both guys lose to Tszyu, Judah, Cotto, Pac, and Hatton.

Tszyu might beat them up the worst, in all honesty. Tszyu's right hand + Taylor's lack of defense and tendency to swell = Ugly, ugly conclusion.

As for Teo, he can't even beat a bum Aussie with no power. Can't expect him to beat an elite Aussie with devastating power.

Neither man is capable of applying the balls2thewall pressure of somebody like Vince Phillips and deal with the same pressure Phillips did. They're just lacking physically and psychologically. Phillips was a massive 10 stoner who only went to 140 because the 147 of the day was way too deep for him.

What makes Tszyu the killer he would be Vs both men is his patience. He'd just gently shuffle into position and every single shot would be calculated and punishing.

Anybody who can time Judah is going to wreck somebody like either of Saturdays guys. If you're eating canvas Vs Kambosos or Catterall you better believe you're in a world of trouble Vs Tszyu.

    But that's another story.

    I'm still favouring Lopez here..just.

Hilton were good one to each other, in a twisted way. They made dumb moves together, but they never stole from each other afaik

I dont see the point of saying, almost before every big fights, that neither could beat any of the historical greats. Im happy that finally some big fights are happening, so i dont see the need to piss in the punch

You might as well say it now because we'll all surely be saying it afterwards......whoever wins the conversation will inevitably turn to their position historically.

Especially Lopez....."He beat both Taylor and Loma....he could have done _______" ....just you wait. They'll be saying it..no doubt..

Yeah the dad didn't steal intentionally ....it was worse than that. He had their best interests in heart and it all still went very bad for all of them. Fucking Hilton's should have been millionaires times-over. Their dad just had no fuckin idea. Old man Quarry the same. They knew best. SMFH.

Another guy who made mistakes was Darkie Smith. He actually cost his son about £80k (when 80k.was a lot) by running into the ring in the Hatton fight....guy never had a consequential fight after that..

It's just the reality of sports, it's not unique to boxing.

Mbappe will score a hat trick, fans will ask if he'll one day surpass Messi in greatness.

Pat Mahomes wins his second Super Bowl, fans will ask if he'll one day surpass Brady in greatness.

Fans are now regularly wondering if Carlos Alcaraz will one surpass Nadal and Djokovic as the tennis goat.

It's just the nature of sport. Always has been. Always will be.

I want a stoppage, either way. I don't want no fucking decision, because that ends in controversy 90% of the time.

I want the fight to end with the ref jumping in to save either Josh or Fimo.
