I think I heard about it 1,2 days ago. Max. I think it shows the importance of relevance.....people want what's on offer this weekend in Saudi, not a much better guy from 10 years ago.
I mean, the Brits will fill a smoky room to watch men throw darts at a board. But they won't keep showing up for yesterday's man. Floyd did a training session in London maybe 12 years ago or more and got a great attendance. People want today's crap, not yesterday's talent..

That's the type of rage you usually see in an old New York Italian when you tell em Ted Williams was better than Joe Dimaggio.
"Fuckin moolinyan just stopped da fuckin fight right when I had em! Daaa fuckinnnn BALLZZZZZZ on disss guy! Ballzzz da size of meatballs on dissss muthafucka to stop da fight! Fuckin moolies stick togetha I guess, ehh? I axed for fuckin Frank Cappucino to ref diss fight, but dey told me he passed, God rest his soul. Fuckin paisan woulda never let dis shit happen!" Not a direct quote, but being a New Yorker, I'd venture to guess this was said by JG3 post-fight.
On a serious note: Floyd's one of the worst things to ever happen to boxing. Maybe the worst. Just about everything he's ever done has changed the sport for the worse. The obsession with having an 0 on your record (an 0 which Castillo really took from him), the A-side/B-side obsession, the trend with boxers thinking more like businessmen than athletes with ambition, him being the catalyst for these stupid ass boxing/MMA crossovers, now turning exhibitions into a sideshow. Does Floyd just open his eyes every morning and think, "How can I hurt boxing more today?"

Floyd forever altered the sport and more and more fighters are trying to mimic his blueprint. Fighters fight twice a year if we’re lucky. Belts get held hostage. Mandatories are rarely honored, and when they are, it’s often against some undeserving opponent.
I hear they tell Biden we're in 1997. That's why he believes everything is great. They'll skip ahead 10 years and tell him about Smartphones next month.
Hey get the fuck outta here...... ......... "If I hadda knowd Frank Cappuccino was dead idda axed for Frank Expresso instead, am I right or am I right, fuggetaboudit"
Probably the type of anger that Joe himself had if you said it. Billy Crystal once introduced Joe to the Yankee stadium crowd for a Mickey Mantle tribute. He didn’t say “greatest living ball player” (nevermind that Willie Mays was and is still alive) as Joe demanded to always be introduced as, so Joe later walked up on Billy and sucker punched him in the stomach.
Yeah, I've heard that story. Dimaggio was a well known asshole. Mantle was a drunk, but much more likable. "To this day," Yanks fans love the Mick more than Joey D.
Give Vinny another 20 seconds w/ that rage he would've landed a wild punch and drop Mayweather...Floyd can't fight...
Mantles great line about "if I'd known I'd live this long I'd have taken better care of myself" always got me laughing . He expected to die young like his father did.
Mantle and Mays in an old homerun derby. Mantle clearly a bit tipsy. He sure could fuckin hit though.
Mantle was very much the George Best of baseball. Both incredible talents who didn't work very hard at their games. Just played, drank, and fucked women.
I used to love watching Homerun Derby when I was a kid. Billy Crystal directed 61*, which I thought was pretty good, especially for a made-for-cable movie. It starts off by telling a story of Joe being an asshole, contrasting with Mickey being so well liked by his teammates. Mickey would go back to the team bus to eat with his black teammate during Jim Crow times, while Joe acted like his shit didn’t stink and looked down at everyone else. Billy didn’t write the movie, but I sort of got the impression that he wanted to include certain stories so the viewers would know that DiMaggio was a dick. Amazing thing about Mantle, besides being one of the greats while being an alike, was that he also achieved all that after tearing his knee as a rookie.
Yeah, Mantle was apparently a phenomenal base runner before his knee injury. Mick is without question one of the top 5 best natural talents in baseball history. Didn't need any roids to launch it out the park. He was just country boy strong. He was a better power hitter than DiMaggio. Joey D didn't LACK homerun power though. Without looking, I think DiMaggio had a few seasons hitting over 40 HRs. But of course, he's best known for his legendary hit streak (Williams was a better hitter tho). The four greatest Yankees are usually considered: Ruth, Gehrig, Mantle, DiMaggio. In that order.
