I never had the power to hurt my hamstring. I was never able to explode fast enough.

Oddly its the increase in upper body strength that's caused me to tend to do them. My lower half now has something to work against.

When i went back labouring in 2015 i used to have awful difficulty walking in the morning because my achilles would lengthen over the course of the day and then contract at night. I would hobble out of bed.

Same for me. Mine usually come around 30-40 m into a 100m dash. I stop immediately and it needs about 7 days to heal.

Naturally being less active doesn't help but it's mainly down to age. Pro athletes don't retire just because they lost a step or two in speed. Naturally that's also a big factor but it's more due to aches, pains and lessening endurance.

There's a guy who's gotten a big online rep for rehabilitating & 'bulletproofing' athletes recently ('knees over toes guy')and his whole schtick is that even active people and athletes so rarely train muscles and the connective tissue in joints through their true full ranges that it creates vulnerabilities which eventually get exposed when we're randomly forced into those positions during peak exertion or by chance. Thats basically what a hamstring pull is for instance, when the muscle gets stretched beyond its active range & he says that ends up gradually shrinking from childhood onward through disuse. So he does alot of weight lifting focusing on getting to progressively longer & longer muscle lengths - split squats for the hip flexors, deficit RDLs for the hamstrings, slant board squats for the quads and so on. Not just 'stretching' but strengthening the full range. He says the same principles basically apply to the connective tissues. Makes sense to me but it might just be a good marketing story

Out of nowhere the bookies have suddenly slashed the odds on Kieran Tierney coming back to Celtic this summer from 20/1 to 2/1. Ah man, that'd be so good

Still seems a wild long shot given the numbers involved. My bet is he ends up at Newcastle. But its nice to day dream.

Speaking of ex-Celtic fullbacks: Real Madrid reportedly about to buy Frimpong for €60m and Celtic have a 30% sell on clause.

Hahaha it's Spurs, they could sign Mbappe and Haaland and still fuck it up. Cursed club. Saying that it will be interesting to see what the new manager can do. Looks like Kane will go though.

If you were Maddison you would be gutted if Kane leaves after joining.

Saudi Arabia looks like such a shit place to live, obviously it's different for the super rich, but still. The birthplace of wahabbism man, and it's their national doctrine.

Yeah it's fucking disgusting. I could sort of see it when a player is on their last legs and they can play a season or two which will handsomely pad their retirement fund. A player at or near their prime? No. Someone with gazillions already like Ronaldo? No. To top it all off in Saudi Arabia of all places. Personally speaking you would have to pay me a large sum to go there only to sit in a hotel for a week, let alone for months at a time or do anything in return.

"Promoting the sport" I might believe that narrative when a player takes a pay cut or has no other personal financial incentive.

I was initially surprised Jota would go because he doesnt seem the type on any level. Then i read the details: 200,000 a week. Plus the club he's going to just signed Benzema which probably tipped it

Ah the transfer window. If you're a supporter of a "big club" it's an exciting time. Rich daddy is in a high end department store. You don't know exactly what he's returning with but know he will walk out with a bunch of goodies.

When you're a supporter of a smaller club it's like your house got robbed of the most valuable items. You have insurance, but they no longer carry replacement models of what you've lost. While it's nice to have a large cheque it's also post dated and only cashable once the rich daddy has completed their shopping.

You will be in this same situation next year and the year after that.

Everton, the club that were in 19th place and still didn't buy one fuckin player but sold one of our best to Newcastle are run by a joke board. Now linked to 100 players but no moves made. Kenwright needs to be choked out . Fucking scumbag Moshiri, you ruined this club !

Ange, coming from Australia so everything may be bigger than if he were from a traditional football nation. He has won titles in Australia, Japan and Scotland now. That doesn't put him in a class with Pep or Mourinho but it commands attention.

I dont blame either of them in the circumstances tbh

Happy to hear that Celtic are playing hardball though, reports are that theyve turned down £25m and are yelling show me the money down the phone. Jota apparently has a clause in his contract which bumps his Celtic wage up by 15k if they get bid of £25m too so its doubly good to see Sellik not cheaping out. The club is about £60m in the black so there's plenty room to use this deal to set a benchmark that future suitors are gonna see. Sellik isnt a fitbaw poundland any more, show us some quan.

Any thoughts on this new offside rule they're introducing/trialling this year? First thought was 'good!' Second thought was: 'hmm, will it lead to loads of low defensive lines?'

Haven't heard anything on it. What is the rule and which FA is introducing it?
