ESPN laid off Kellerman and 19 other ESPN personalities.

I wonder if DAZN can sack that fuckin idiot Mannix and offer Max a deal.

I don't really follow sports broadcasts. Are they just looking to replace those who were axed with newer/cheaper people or are they cutting some programming itself?

Cutting costs. Probably a directive from Disney.

Screamin A Shithead is the only one safe at ESPN.

theres plenty dead weight on espn but the ones they fired were probably making higher salaries than some of the others. kellerman, van gundy, rose, etc

At least they kept my favorite GILF, Hannah Storm. Who else would break the news to people when another ESPN anchor dies?

I don't know how much money there is left in sports TV. It's not 1999 anymore. The last 20 ± years has seen an explosion of digital and legacy outlets and legally and illegally accessible digital platforms.

Theres only so much boxing out there and a lot of guys competing for a share of it.

So it's probably not politically motivated. Kellerman ticked ALL the fuckin boxes. He's just living in a world full of people who don't care how many Pea Whittaker fights you've masturbated over.

Scream A Spliff is just another talking head. You can get one of them anywhere.

Yep. It's money. Too many platforms and outlets now.

I once saw a soccer story at a shitty Liverpool forum hot-linked at the main BBC Sports site. They knew then their viewers were getting more diverse in terms of their tastes.

That was 15 years ago.....The fans have been migrating outwards and away from the old centres for a while now.

20 years ago over here you needed SKY SPORTS and they worked through HBO for American stuff.

Now we've got Sky,BT, DAZN, all looking for a piece of the action.

That and actual athletes are now doing their own interviews etc on alternate media. So you can listen to SAS and Maddog or watch the actual athletes talk on YouTube or a podcast.

Massive staff overheads are competing with dudes on Twitch etc who produce content at a fraction of the price.

Ward had one fortuitous decision in his career. This isn't delahoya or Alvarez

It's just a joke. He'll always wear the Son of Judges moniker. We're aware that he only got one gift.

I can understand 100% why Ward got canned. It's redundant having two HOF fighters calling a fight. Of course Timmy was gonna get the nod over Ward, as Timmy is more charismatic and polarizing. Charismatic and polarizing is exactly what ESPN wants in their talent.

Plus, there's a good chance Ward was making more than Tim.

Bradley is a much better commentator than ward

I'll watch boxing stuff and maybe a bit of nfl/nba pre and post game but other than that I very rarely check out any of espns content beyond the live event

Ward fell off. He was a much better commentator at HBO. In recent years, it sounded like he was going through the motions and didn't wanna be there.

Wards always sounded the same to me. Ok, but never offering great insight and more biased than bradley

Sometimes ex fighters offer great insight, but too often it's something like "those body shots hurt!" or "he's got to let his hands go".

Thanks for the unique insider perspective.

No matter how you feel about either Xplosive is right in that you don't need two pro fighters on a broadcast, at least not from start to finish.
