Supposedly in talks. Funny, Regis looks bad, and suddenly ole garage nose is in a rush to fight him. Hope it backfires on Haney.
Opportunistic matchmaking from Haney. Typical Top Rank. They see a fighter on the way down and they jump on it. Can’t stand that shit.
It'll be a helluva matchup if it does get made. Not sure who to take. On one hand, Regis will struggle with Haney's footspeed. On the other hand, Haney's mediocre chin might fall apart if Regis can find him. It's a 50-50 imo.
REED's Criticized Regis For Being Almost Toooooooooooo COMPOSED, Tooooooooo RELAXED In Some Recent Fights... He Needs to SERIOUSLY Let the DOG Out vs. Dev, Who DOESN'T Possess the Power to Seriously Damage Him...The Way Roiman Villa Fought vs. Boots is the Approach Regis Needs to Take vs. Dev (Except for the Whole Getting STOPPED in the 10 Round Part)...Don't PLAY w/This Guy, Don't Be CUTE, Don't POSE, Boldly BRING it to Dev All Fight... REED
i dont like the matchup. haney will be on the move and prograis may not have the legs to catch up to him at this stage of his career.
Which Makes the Financial Investment RISKY AF for Fans, Because It Will Be Apparent EARLY If Regis Doesn't Possess the Legs Anymore... REED
as far as attending? i dont see the shit bein ppv. maybe dazn asks subscribers for a little more to watch it ?
If This is Milked as a DAZN PPV Or Even if There' a "Slight Fee" BEYOND the Normal Monthly Amount, REED Will Strongly Considering CANCELLING His DAZN Subscription... Had it Since Joshua-Povetkin, But This Hasn't Exactly Been a BANNER Year for the Network... REED
i canceled dazn a while ago. its too easy to stream shit now. and they raised their price. anytime they actually put on a fight i was really interested to see, i attended.
Even in Regis' physical prime, he didn't exactly have the come forward footspeed of Aaron Pryor. It seems to be slower now though.
Maybe we have yet to see the best of haney. I believe he has been weakening himself for at least 2 years to make 135. That said, based on what I've seen of him, he loses to a fresher prograis from a few years ago. He may still lose to the current iteration if he fights a dumb fight like he did vs lomachenko
REED Stopped Watching Streams a While Back... A. Particularly in Regards to PPV's, Streaming TAKES Money Out of Fighter's Pockets... B. REED Has Never EVER Watched a Stream That Wasn't INTERRUPTED w/"Buffering" Or Whatever the Shit is Called @ Some Point...REED Doesn't Want to Miss 2-3 Rounds of a 12 Rounder and Typically, in REED's Case, the "Buffering" Occurred During the Most ENTERTAINING Portions of a Fight... REED
Yeah, same here. At the end of the day, if it's a fight I really wanna see - I'd much rather drop money on it and see a high-quality, uninterrupted product, than watch a shoddy stream for free and have to worry about it going down or having buffering issues.
Yeah, I don't see Haney beating the peak Prograis of pre-Taylor fight. He might be too young and fast for him now, we'll see. I hope to Hell Regis fucking wrecks this clown.
I'd like Regis to win, but I think the styles really suit Haney. Regis isn't particularly good at cutting the ring and Haney isn't particularly willing to engage unless he has to. He'd probably sit back and either work behind his jab is a really boring affair, or let Regis come to him. Both work out for Haney.
It's difficult for me to get excited to watch haney vs anyone If it is vs Lopez or davis, ok. Other than that there are better fights to be made without him
It'll either be a solid technical match or an absolute stinker with Haney playing it safe and decisioning Regis.
I like Regis, always have, but you have to admit a guy's limitations. Regis was always a really predictable fighter. His game lacks the dynamism and creavity that you see in a Bud, and to a less proven extent, a Ennis. Difference being, 5 years ago Regis was least quicker and more explosive than he is now. I remember a few years ago, Regis was in the gym with Duran, and Duran even at 110 years old was basically pointing out flaws that he saw in Regis' defense. Flaws that a prime Duran would have very brutally exposed against Regis. I think Haney will outbox Reg, unfortunately. Hope like Hell I'm wrong.
Prograis will have to cut the ring. It's ironic, his two boxing heroes are Tyson and Duran, two masters of ring cutting. And yet Regis, despite studying both of them, has no idea how to do it.
It's cool how streaming is changing the game, right? I actually run my own sports app. It's pretty sweet we offer a more budget friendly way to catch your favorite sports. Forget those expensive PPV and cable deals we're all about keeping things easy on the wallet. If anyone is ever curious hit me up
I'm serious, Duran needs to offer Regis insight on how to cut the ring, because he doesn't know how, and he'll need to know how for Haney. Regis has access to the best ring cutter who's ever lived, so I hope he asks him.
It Cracks me up that Duran would need to come down and show Regis something so obvious like cutting off the ring. I mean when we break it down there are essentially just a handful of basic punches. You've got body shots, head shots, and then the classic 4 basic punches like jab, cross, hook, and uppercut. So when Im watching a fight and I hear trainers or blow by blow guys clamoring for a boxer to "use that jab" it makes me wonder isn't that like urging someone to breathe? After all jabbing and cutting off the ring is like the first things a boxer learns...it's not rocket science. How is it possible that individuals like Regis who've devoted a decade or two to the sport of boxing still struggle to employ ring control tactics.
I think basically fighters do what they can in the ring and if they're not jabbing, or they're moving too much, it's because of something the other guy is doing. I think fights where a guy loses because of bad strategy are rare. More often, it's just the inability to execute. And I think stuff like Prograis working with Duran is just PR. Maybe I'm wrong.
