Am I wrong in thinking Golota could have given Lewis serious problems?

Especially if there is something on the line. They were practically trying to gift him a title but he would blow it. (as usual) He fights Tyrd or Ruiz as a filler bout on some undercard with no belt or status up for grabs and he probably wins.

This. And it was a washed up Golota.

Bowe had to take vicious punishment to get to the point when Golota unraveled. A clown like AJ wouldn't be able to take the punishment Bowe took.

Golota had a car accident that took away his jab. So the Golta who beat Byrd and Ruiz was far from top form.

Golota definitely wasn't robbed vs Ruiz, who won the 1st and most of the latter rounds quite clearly. In fact, if the ref correctly ruled the 2nd kd a slip, and you remove the bullshit point deduction, there is almost no case for a Golota win.

If Golota is brought in as a sacrificial lamb for AJ, he wins. If he's brought in as a peer-contender, he loses after dominating.

PLUS: BOXING; Golota Injured In Fatal Crash (Published 1999)

Golota post this car crash was sad to watch. He was basically a one handed fighter. If you watch him use his left hand post his accident it was pathetic. Awkward, slow , no power and couldn't snap punches with it at all. Very far cry from the Bowe fights where his left was his primary weapon, snapping jabs and vicious left hooks all night. Shame.

If Golota was told Wilder was a killer, Golota would lose. If Golota was told Wilder was a bum,Golota would win.

Wilder would manage to intimate Golota at the press conferences. But beyond the physiological, there's a bigger issue - Golota is just too stiff to avoid Wilder's right hand. I can't see Golota beating Wilder.

He matches up more favorably with AJ.

I just don't believe Wilder hits any harder than Riddick Bowe.....Cunningham hurt Fury as bad as Wilder did.

I dislike Wilder, but I think for sure he hits harder with a single shot than Bowe.

Bowe had a bigger arsenal, better technique, had two-fisted power, and was a far better combination puncher, but for one single right hand Wilder's more explosive.

Head 2 head, that wouldn't matter. Bowe would execute Wilder inside of 6.

But I still think Wilder would get Golota.

It’s a case where one fighter has the tools to win but doesn’t have it up stairs.

Golota would fall apart in front of Wilder the moment he gets hit.

Golota was also busier and better stamina. Prime Golota vs. Wlad is an interesting matchup. You have to figure Golota could out-jab Wlad.

I was stationed in Japan. The fight wasn't available on the base. I was watching ESPN for updates on the fight. ESPN actually fucked up and on their ticker, they said Golota won the fight by first round TKO. I was like, "Fuck this dude is for real."

Then Sportscenter came on and they showed Golota getting his ass kicked.

Look pretty much like the old Golota to be honest. Same attributes (mostly) but same flaws (mostly) which is a tendency to slap with his punches and easy to hit on the inside. He was a bit more mobile though no doubt. The only time Golota looked significantly better was vs Bowe but I wonder how much of it was due to Bowe being washed up

Agreed that Golota looked significantly better against bowe that all of his other fights. Seems like he had fire in his belly, and wasnt as lazy as he usually was. Not to mention that his left hook was much sharper

Golota would have beaten the shit out of Wlad and Klitschko's only hope would be for Golota to fold.

Vitali stops Golota after an absolute war that Vitali takes over late.

I don't see why not. Golota managed to outjab Michael Grant, and still lost. Wlad would fight him like he did Pulev IMO.

The pre-Sanders Wlad who had a killer mentality might blitz Golota before Andrew could get going.

In fairness to Wald, he had way more weapons than Grant.

Pre-Sanders, Wald was intimidating. Golota would probably come in shook.

    I don't think he'd have to. Grant's defence was pathetic, but Wlad's wasn't.

Kind of a myth as he was also super negative vs his most threatening foes (Barret and Mcline) pre Sanders.

Hell even against a shot Botha, he was doing his soon to be notorious ''jab grab jab' bullshit

Yeah the myth of the two wlad has been debunked numerous times, yet it is still getting spewed. Guy was always ultra cautious and negative, except against uberbums
