Am I wrong in thinking Golota could have given Lewis serious problems?

Koss really can't take a body shot. Terrible reactions and then pulling a Golota to get out of the fight was just as cowardly as it gets. Golota was in there with Bowe. As washed as Bowe appeared, he still had the elite level heart, will to win and apex predator mentality of going towards a threat and fighting his way through it. Ajagba was just throwing body shots from range and Koss just had a mental breakdown at being hurt to the body. I thought it was a very pathetic showing, one of the worst I've seen.

I have wondered if Golota vs Bowe tells us mostly about Bowe's limitations as a fighter. Maybe it has been too easily accepted that he was over the hill and that Golota was championship caliber

Golota looked like a solid if unspectacular contender before the Bowe fight. He fouled his way to a victory against average Danell Nicholson and resorted to biting against Po'uha, that was pretty much it.

As for Bowe, he looked superb against Holyfield who was stylistically perfect opponent for him (much smaller guy who liked to slug inside). His other best showings were against crappy opponents (such as Gonzalez or Ferguson). He didn't exactly shine against inexperienced Donald nor aging Tubbs.

It could be that Golota wasn't all that as a fighter but as a big, strong guy he was just difficult match for Bowe who never faced similar challenge. Prime Lewis was much more versatile compared to Bowe and found Golota's weaknesses quickly

Good question. Bowe didn't have much of a resume beyond Holyfield. And Golota would certainly go on to display his limitations in nearly all his subsequent fights.
