By the way I don't agree with stopping guys like that, on an eye. It should have been "you've got 3 minutes,starting now, and then it's over".

That way he's got his instructions and an absolutely clear understanding of the situation and either will go all out or just run the clock down.

 

The money and also, because it's a small clique I believe. At the top, within a small country or state/province, they basically all know each others on a personal level, either directly or indirectly. Of course they're gonna lean toward their guy.

 

Guess I overestimated Joyce’s full capabilities. Zero defense and slow as shit. Zhang couldn’t miss. Still a pretty entertaining fight while it lasted.

 

Btw, good news for Joyce as he has no fracture whatsoever. A broken eye socket would have been devastating for his career at his age. Still, hard to see him going much further with how slow he looked yesterday and, maybe even worst, how small and weak he looked compared to Zhang.

 

My faith was predicated on him always being stronger and throwing some punches. He wasn't stronger Vs Zhang but had he landed something then he could have kept Zhang off until the 280lb guy gassed a bit.

It's hard to see how Hrgovic had a better plan than Joyce had, but he did.

People can argue the decision, but Hrgovic absolutely had his moments and wasn't blind after 3 minutes.

Joyce can be as bad as he is but Saturday night smelled a lot more like a really good gameplan by Zhang complemented by a total absence of one by Joyce.

 

Remember, he's no Chinaman. He's from Jersey!

 

Zhang-Aj would be fun. AJ would have to jump into the water & let those hands go, Zhang wouldn't leave him any choice.

 

It's a huge oportunity now for AJ.

 

The Chinaman is limited as fuck, but AJ won't be able to stop his straight left.

 

Zhang is limited as fuck true, but I cannot recall any hw as big as he is (he made Joyce looked small and weak which was really shocking imo) throwing punches as swiftly and fluidily. Plus, he's quite sneaky too. Bar from Fury, I don't see a anyone in the division having an easy time with him. It'd be incredible to have an hw champion from China. No one would have believe it could be a possibility even a few years ago.

Dude is a silver medallist Olympian. All of the big guys have good amateur pedigrees....except Fury, who probably saw more real fights by the age of 4 than most of these guys.

Im watching the latest 'Rrrrummmys Corner' vid rating the top 15 current heavyweights and, you gotta say, the general standard is pretty poor. A few decently coached pros with no real talent (Wallin, Parker) a number of guys with some physical gifts but dreadful balance & technical ability (Hrgovic, Wilder, Sanchez, Joyce, Bakole etc), some technically better guys who are either middle aged or clinically obese (Zhang, Ortiz, Ruiz). Fingers crossed for George Anderson....and that Hrgovic & Sanchez might get themselves proper boxing coaches

 

Anderson looks decent to be fair, but he's the only guy from the up and coming crop I rate. Like you say, the others have certain attributes that make them interesting in specific fights, but not very many young, solid all-rounders.

 

I think Usyk will retire once he gets the Fury fight, win or lose, which is a shame.

It’s gonna be a repeat of the first fight, unless Zhang gets old overnight and stops becoming a threat after the 6th round for Joyce to bounce back.

 

If Joyce can keep his skull intact until the 8th or 9th Zhang gassing is a live possibility. He was visibly blowing before the end last time

 

If the sloth Joyce's face holds up (a big if), I can see him hitting Zhang with the slowest ko shots of are times in the late rounds
