Just watched some highlights. Commentary "that wouldn't be a penalty in the PL. It's different in the Champions League."

Weak handball penalties in the PL? Non-existent. Totally different rulebook. Perhaps i've seen plenty, maybe even some where players have deliberately kicked the ball into a players hand, whined to the ref and a pen was given. I only say perhaps because i might have imagined those occurrences.

The irony being that HARRY FUCKING KANE has received MORE easy penalties in England than anyone cares to remember.

7 English Prem clubs in Euro Action this week

    Arsenal Vs PSV
    Man City Vs RSB
Fesk or some shit Vs Liverpool

    Those were the winners.

    Legia Warsaw Vs Aston Villa
    Bayern Vs Man United
    Brighton Vs Athens

    All losers

AC Milan Vs Newcastle, a draw.

So for all our talk about the Prem being deep as hell this year, that's an exactly even split over the opening round.

It doesn't mean shit per se just sort of shows how there are other sides out there, fighting too.

I don't think there's much question from top to bottom the EPL is the strongest league, as the others are more top-heavy but the gap isn't a big one and certainly not the way some make it out to be. I think in large part that narrative is largely touted by those who don't watch any games outside of it. I do have to say though with the way things are going the gap seems certain to grow larger which isn't good for the sport.

Everyone should put in their European winner predictions now, and see how we do come next year.

    For me:

CL: City again (hope I'm wrong)

Europa: LFC (should be seen as a letdown if Liverpool don't take Europa).

Conference: Fenerbahce. They have a really deep squad. I watch them almost weekly.

Yeah it's hard to see past City retaining the title tbh, Real are a threat and so are Bayern if they can sort their defence out, but City still look the most complete.

Liverpool should be favourites for the Europa but they are always capable of a collective brainfart and blowing it. To be honest though, I haven't really looked at the rest of the competition so I don't know who their biggest threats are.

I don't know nearly enough about the Conference to know who the most likely winner is. Rooting for the Prem clubs like Brighton, who play genuinely brilliant football but I very much doubt they would be amongst the front runners to win it.

Too early to think about Europa as CL dropouts can parachute into it. (unless that's changed?)

I would argue that Burnley is a solid favorite to win the Prem.

It's rare you can spot an absolute belter for immediate relegation but Luton looked doomed the minute they were promoted.

Luton, Middlesbrough,Charlton,Millwall, Bolton, Coventry and Blackburn....all Top-Flight clubs of my lifetime who seem utterly incapable of ever bridging that gap any time in the near future

Sheffield WEDNESDAY,QPR, Leeds, Watford, Wigan, Portsmouth, Norwich ... It's almost an entire Division when you add them all up.

Normally I don't gamble but for you I'll make an exception. I'll bet you a thousand dollars Burnley won't win the PL and get this - I'll give you two to one odds!

It'll be a while before we make it back, barring a fluke playoff run. We just haven't got any money left. Need a complete restructuring and maybe adopt the Brentford model.

My big fear is you'll get targeted by an owner who buys the club for X and then sells the ground for 5X and moves you out to fucking Hampshire or Hertfordshire ......it wasn't going to happen to Wimbledon until it did

I remember the talks in the 90s about a potential merger between QPR and Wimbledon that got shut down quickly.

I don't see that happening tbh, Wimbledon were a bit of an anomaly in a way because they were a non-league club with a non-league fan base that had an insane and unprecedented rise to the top level of English football, not only that but they were actually able to sustain it. The problem always was that they didn't have a ground of their own (at the time) and no sizeable support. Don't get me wrong, it is still utterly disgusting what happened to them, but I think the owners thought they'd get away with it because of the aforementioned small supporter base. I actually think the fallout from the MK Don's situation would stop anyone trying it again. Not to mention QPR has a loyal, much more established and larger supporter base. Even if it is more of a local one than some of the bigger clubs, it's sizeable in its own right. Any owner with those kinds of ambitions would get shut down very quickly.

On a side note, it does still raise a chuckle that despite the original Wimbledon being defunct, they're still the most successful South London club in terms of major trophy wins.

Do you think Stoke could get it done on a cold rainy Wednesday in Sheffield?
