I think people were expecting for Charlo to have more balls than he does.

 

By comparison Canelo's move up two weight classes to fight Kovalev and Manny's incredible journey spanning 8 divisions shows that it's not about weight only. Canelo's power certainly makes an impact in the ring, often leading opponents to adjust their strategies swiftly.

Reflecting on what transpired Saturday night reflects the current state of affairs in boxing. I wasn’t expecting Charlo to win but damn that was a non-effort. He didn’t even try.

Canelo has slipped, though. He’s never been all that fast, but he’s looking noticeably slower handed now. Still has a poor gas tank, and really heavy feet. Benavidez probably beats him, as does Morrell. Bivol schools him again. I still think his next fight will be Berlanga, a guy that even at his absolute worst, he would beat.

 

Charlo was satisfied with surviving while stinking out the place. For a minute I thought he was waiting to counter Canelo left hook or overhand right. Charlo wouldn’t even muster up a consistent jab.

Canelo did the minimum to win and that was more than enough. Cut the ring like a prime Chavez, threw an anemic 30 punches a round.

In his the build up to Benevidez v Andrade Benevidez needs to insult & callout Canelo 24/7 act like boo boo isn’t event there.
