Yup, a recent case in point is Joan Guzmán working Charlo's corner last Saturday. During the build up they referred to him as his secret weapon. But it didn't seem to make much of a difference did it? It reminded me of Tyson's famous words. Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face.
I just heard Haney paid to have one of his losses erased in Mexico. That's crazy. I can totally see Haney and his pops paying off someone in Mexico to keep that undefeated record. If this is true what a disrespect for the sport. I'm not watching this fight. Haney is disgusting.
That's Fairly Common, Actually... Chavez Sr Reportedly Has a DQ or CUTS Loss in Mexico that was Buried, Well Before He Reached Mainstream American Audiences...Canelo is RUMORED to Have One as Well, From His Teens...REED PERSONALLY Knows a Fighter Who Was TOLD a Fight of His In Mexico WOULDN'T Appear On His Record if He Lost & It DIDN'T....For About a Year or So, Then the Loss Magically APPEARED On Boxrec w/the Accurate Date the Bout Took Place & Everything... Point Being, There's Really NO Way to PROVE What Happened 1 Way or the Other...Hell, It's Common for Guys to Fight Under Various ALIASES In Mexico...Fights That NEVER Actually Took Place Are Said to Have Happened in Mexico...TV, Cell Phones, Boxrec and Word of Mouf' Make it Increasingly HARDER to Get Away w/It, But Things are Still Relatively CUTTHROAT and UNREGULATED South of the Border... REED
I've never heard of Canelo having losses erased. But Chavez did used to pad his record with taxi drivers in his prime. It wasn't unsual for Chavez to fight bums in between big fights. I'm not talking Yildrim and Jermell Charlo type of opponents either. I'm talking guys with 7 and 3 records. Guys who had no business fighting Chavez at that point of his career.
Chavez has an outstanding resume and arguably the greatest Mexican fighter of all time. My point is that Chavez was notorious for padding his record with tomato cans. It's a fact.
