Discuss. I'm actually excited to see this. Obviously target practice for Tyson but still pretty cool this is a real boxing match and not exhibition.
Not exhibition??? That is still to be seen...if it's a real boxing match it won't go 3 rounds...it shouldn't go 1...but let say Fury gives the fans a round or two for their wasted money. But if Fury stay away jabbing to the body or some bullshit like that...it's not more than an exhibition.
Floyd vs McGregor was the last CIRCUS show that was an actually boxing match....and even then Floyd carried McGregor during a rounds...but the size difference was enough to make it look at semi competitive(not really) for a few rounds.
I think it's real. We've seen this before. You remember when James Toney "fought" Randy Couture under MMA rules? You thought this was fake too? Look at JT's look of terror. Like a fish out of water that's never been in a situation where he felt he was having the life choked out of him. If it's fixed then Toney deserves an Oscar for his great acting . It's a pet peeve of mine when dumb ass casuals say all of canelo's fights are fixed. Do you have any clue how many people would need to be bought out to fix a fight?
Great video Reed, very telling of how serious this fight is that Tyson can't even pronounce Ngannou family name . Ngannou looks beyond mediocre on the pads, he can't even throw a left hook properly... I know pad work doesn't necessarily translate to how good a boxer really is but considering Ngannou isn't even a real boxer, this reduced even more his already slim odds. Really disappointed in Fury that he wastes 1 of his last remaining fights on this bullshit. Especially coming off the Chisora trilogy and considering his resume is super slim for a would be ATG
Yeah, its a dissapointing choice of opponent and a waste of time, but at least hes taking on usyk in december
It is an exhibition in a sense that it won't affect ring records. I believe the reason is that Ngannou doesn't have a license. However, they have regular gloves and ten regular rounds. I assume they'll fight in near-serious manner (a la Mayweather vs McGregor)
That's a bit harsh. After the Wilder trilogy and after cleaning out the trash in the division I think he's earned this "exhibition". Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the greatest himself do a lot of exhibitions during his prime? I for one am a bit intrigued by this fight because Nganou has some real power. He is the baddest man on the planet. He can literally kill Fury and any other Heavy weight in Boxing or MMA. The fact the Nganou had the balls to get out of his comfort zone and step into the ring with the best heavyweight in boxing being the best hw in his sport and can actually punch like a mule makes it interesting. This isn't macgregor vs Floyd or some japanese kick boxer. This is the best vs the best.
Tyson Fury vs Francis Ngannou has been officially sanctioned by the BBBofC as a professional fight, so is now listed on BoxRec and will go on both fighters’ official records.
Anyone like Moses Itauma? Good looking HW. Claims he wants to beat Mike Tyson's record for being the youngest hw champion. Looked good vs bum. Good speed and power.
If Francis tought he had a chance to win, he would have started against a few no hoppers and building himself gradually as a title contender. Jumping directly into a fight with fury shows he only sees it has a money shot
Cleaning out the trash in the division? Are you calling Fury competition TRASH? Or is Wilder TRASH??? Other than Wilder...Fury competition has beeen TRASH. And he hasn't fought any of the other 2 or 3 TOP heavyweights in the division(Usyk, Joshua, Ruiz)... Fury resume isn't even in the same universe as Muhammad Ali... Ngannou is the baddest man on the planet?? BASE on WHAT? ...what the hell i'm i doing...YOUR TROLL..i forgot... Yes..Ngannou can kill fury with his POWER PUNCHING FISTies...he went 5 rounds vs. Ciryl Gane, while Jon Jones(truly the best heavyweight in MMA) took him apart and destroyed him in 2 rounds..
You're a joke. How can you you even suggest Fury is ducking Joshua and Ruiz? Both are trash. One is undisciplined and the other was a hype job. And Usyk... Fury takes him apart easily and he will show that December. And yes windmill Wilder was and is human trash.
Not That REED Ever BOUGHT Into How "Seriously" Tyson was Training Ngannou, But Listening to Him at the Presser, Repeatedly BUTCHERING His OWN Fighter's Name, Spoke to Just How LITTLE TIME Mike's Actually Spent with Francis...Photo Ops Exclusively, REED Reckons... Even By MMA Standards, Ngannou's Punching Technique is Rather SHITTY...Wide, Hard, Heavy, Clubbing, Telegraphed Shots That a Boxer w/Fury's Defensive Acumen Will See Coming from 3 MILES Away...Ngannou Cleaned it Up SOME for the Pad Session, But He'll Quickly Revert Once the Opening Bell Rings.... Ngannou WON'T Land 5 CLEAN Headshots All Fight and REED is INCLUDING JABS in this Instance...Maybe No MORE Than 2 CLEAN Headshots... REED "Gets" the Morbid Curiosity, but Not for $80.... REED
The main thing I'm curious about is how Ngannou's power translates to boxing. There is a very good chance in the world of boxing his power won't be anything special.
If Someone Would Be Soooooooooo KIND As to Hook REED Up w/a Stream, Before the Main Event Starts, He'd GREATLY Appreciate It... REED
Fury said something interesting that I had never considered when asked if he was worried about Ngannou's power. And what he said was brilliant. "It takes between 6 and 12 pounds of pressure to knock somebody out if you land in the right spot." So at the end of the day whether or not a guy punches like Shavers or Tyson it doesn't really matter. Any one of us could knock out Tyson Fury if we land a good punch. The moral of the story you just need enough power and precision to ko someone. Anything more is over kill like trying to swat a fly with a mallet.
4oz. Fingerless MMA Gloves vs. 10oz. Boxing Gloves...REED is Fully Expecting Ngannou's Power to NOT Translate to Boxing... Just as McGregor's Power Didn't...He Actually CAUGHT Floyd w/a Nice Uppercut, a Shot That Likely WOULD Have Damaged Floyd in 40z. Fingerless Gloves... REED
If anything, this event brought us the birth of the boxing coach Mike Tyson. I enjoy seeing him as a coach.
