I'm not sure if the HW division was all that much better during Klitschko's reign. I seem to remember people in boxing forums bitching about them not fighting anybody. Especially from Tyson fans. That was always their gripe that the Klits were boring and guts like Tyson would've smoked them.
I think the footage of Mike coaching doesn’t lie, and Mike got the potential to be a worldclass boxing coach.
My point was Joe Louis has every reason to have struggled and in your own words, be down ten times in his career. Fury on the other hand has three good wins and has been down seven times in 35 fights. The two are not comparable.
True and he easily dominated the unskilled lugs he fought (Carrera and Baer) so I have no doubt he'd do the same to jokers like Wilder, Joshua and Fury. Hell, I'm pretty sure Carrera and Baer, as limited as they were, wouldn't arguably lose to literally a novice. And Fury's the best of the current sad bunch by a significant margin
Total embarassment. It's almost as bad as if Floyd got knocked out in one of these celebrity sparring conjob matches. At least we can say he's almost 50. The undefeated world champion losing to a UFC novice is worse than Brock Lesnar winning the UFC title.
No, he was caught with a hook for a flash kd in the first round of their first fight (which sent him through the ropes) but he was immediately up and appeared unhurt.
Honestly, I think it would have been less of an embarrassment had Fury gotten ko'd with a punch. We all know Ngannou can punch and shit happens. But that Ngannou, with 0 pro boxing fight and no amateur pedigree, was able to make it a ''technical'' competitive fight vs a 33-0 consensus champion in his prime.... what a fucking shame
Ngannou is obviously on the juice. Just look at his pictures when he s already in his 20's pre MMA and he's not an especially big dude. Not an excuse for Fury though as I think all top athletes are on the gear.
Thinking about it, Tommy Fury (by beatin Jake Paul) is probably the only reason why younger mainstream fans still have a bit of respect for boxing. He's probably a better fighter p4p than his fat, bald half brother too
If your mind is absent your talent counts for shit. One positive - indeed the sole positive- that might come out of this is that between now and a rematch the mugs do a lot of talking. Then Fury kills him in the rematch and back they go into their shells
My guess is fury figured he could ko Ngannou. And he landed nice straight right in the first. But Ngannou turned out to have a really good chin......at least it appears to be.
Right....he got tired.....did his goof routine....and tired. Every rematch he's had, he's been night and day. He owes it to us to get his ass in shape, ice this guy, or just destroy him round by round, then fight Usyk. Like I said....let the hype build ....let the dyed-hair lycra bums chat shit, let them go on Joe Rogan and "Oh bro MMA is fo real"....then kill this guy. They'll never show their face in public again..
I can't remember this bad of a perfomance by a fighter of this caliber since Ray Mercer got out-boxed by losing record Marion "The Jackhammer" Wilson. Of course two fights later he gives prime Lennox Lewis the fight of his life
These things happen. They shouldn't. But they do. In this case,it really shouldn't have happened, it's incumbent on Fury to fix it, pronto . Fix it, or fuck off, and never show your mug in public.
If Usyk has the brains and the connections, he'll get Ngannou in the ring next. His ticket to Fury now is beating Ngannou and then mercilessly baiting Fury.....he can get right under Fury skin, force him to take the fight, and then undermine him more during the promotion.
I do think Fury needs to get Ngannou back in the ring soon and before Usyk. Do a number on him and move on. You would think that having pretty much everyone slagging him off and saying that he's disgraced boxing would piss him off to the extent to want to rematch Ngannou. But he really doesn't gives a shit what people say.
Forget Usyk nobody cares... the biggest fight in the division right now would be Fury vs Ngannou 2. 12 rounds for the titles.
