There was a time between 1985-1990 when all English clubs were banned from playing in Europe.

They thought all English fans were barbaric, blood thirsty savages. It turns out, nah, it was just fans of one club.

    Nice :Jest:

It's weird how these media outlets will report on some entity being fined/suspended for such apparently monstrous words they don't dare repeat them.

    It achieves two purposes, simultaneously:

    1. It prevents you from reading the lyrics and reaching your own conclusions ie the lyrics are in fact harmless

    2. It augments the original objective namely the impression that the obscured matter is heinous , so heinous you must not view it, because it's so very, very awful.

Not at all surprised at Newcastle dropping points today. European football is a tough old bird and it's tough suddenly playing 2 games a week and dealing with the demands and the intensity. Newcastle will have to strengthen in January. The tonali thing is a sickener and undeserved. I'm sure Howe will move in January when the market opens.

    Arsenal fooling nobody bashing Sheffield.

Spurs continue to impress. For now.

Just hope Lpool get the business done tomorrow.

Sorry Slice you are indeed going down.....

Ditto Newcastle.... West Ham, tough away day in Europe, offering nada vs Everton, who could easily be 2,3 up.

Everything we did in the summer hasn't worked. Barnes is it long term and the Tonali thing is it if it control. The rest of the money went on two promising kids.

We'll bring a couple in come January but we need some players back, pronto. I'd take sixth and a cup fun right now.

United really honoured Sir Bobby too today. With a feckless clueless effort. It couldn't have happened to nicer people but it remains truly stunning to see how bereft of identity and any shred of footballing endeavour that lot are. After A BILLION DOLLARS in transfers. No fight. No ideas.

We're talking about the biggest club in England here.

Rip to Bill Kenwright. He had an impossible job at Everton but for a brief few years it all seemed like it might work out. They had that FA Cup moment Vs Chelsea and a few others.

I don't really pay attention to the Ballon d'Or or any of the individual awards tbh, but surprised to read that Messi is favourite over Haaland. I get he won the World Cup and everything but you'll be hard-pressed to find anyone who had a better season than Haaland.

Being the WC is only held every four years performance in it often takes first consideration. Not saying it's right or wrong but it makes sense when somebody is the MVP of that tournament. If France won the penalty shootout i'm sure Mbappe would get a lot votes ahead of Haaland too.

Was having a debate with a friend earlier about the most overrated "great" goals. Top of my list was Rooney's overhead kick which I've mentioned here before. First of all the guy shinned it, it's a good goal but there have been many better overhead kicks and many better goals scored by Rooney. I've no idea how that won best goal in Premier League history. The other goal was Ronaldinho against Chelsea in 2005. It was just a shimmy and a toe-poke. I was as happy as anyone to see him score but I genuinely don't get why it's considered one of the greatest goals ever. Unorthodox maybe, but nothing special.

    Anyone else got examples?

Beckham "half-way" effort Vs Wimbledon. The ranting and raving about that was proof of how the whole media of the country was gagging on United's cock.

Xabi Alonso hit those for fun. Nobody remembered. Steve Harper remembered lol

    Gerrard's Olympiakos strike.

I think Matt Taylor hit one and some pleb on Sky was all "Nawhhh just end the season now innit".

I didnt - how did that happen? By coincidence I was talking to a guy yesterday who'd recently been to a glasgow clan game where a player got hit in the face with the puck and his jaw basically exploded....cheek skin flapping down towards the ice, blood everywhere, people puking in the crowd. Warzone shit

I'm not a hockey expert describing this. I followed the NHL in the 90s, but I dont watch the sport much anymore.

Basically, dude who got killed was coming down with ice with the puck at his stick. The defender comes at him from his right hand side, seemingly in an attempt to check him and knock the puck away. The guy (the defender) gets slightly thrown off course by a guy from the opposing team (a teammate of the player who got killed) the defender then flips through the air, and the blades of his skates slashed the throat of the poor bastard.

Guy goes down. Gets up awkwardly. Then blood starts gushing out on the ice and one his teammates immediately rushes over to help apply pressure to the wound. You briefly see the guy from a front position, and blood is just fucking gushing out of throat and down his jersey. It's very brief, but distributing.

The incident will lead to neck guards being required in every pro hockey league.

I don't want to see the video now that I know the guy passed.

I rember seeing a similar incident in NHL highlights but they were able to stop the bleeding. But there was blood everywhere.

Yes. I've seen that clip as well. The NHL player who's throat got slashed years ago. I forgot his name, but yeah, he miraculously lived.

Difference being, that situation was totally accidental.

In THIS case, the dirty sonuvabitch seemed to kick out his skate on purpose. Possibly a man slaughter charge coming.

I also think with the NHL being the world's biggest hockey league, that they had the medical personnel on hand to IMMEDIATELY address that guy's wounds.

That might not have been the case here; this guy had to skate off the ice under his own power. When your throat is slashed, I would imagine that every second couunts.

That was something the guy said about this other gnarly incident, that the geezer with half his face missing had to get up and skate off
