I was watching some old school boxing the other day, and it got me thinking about some of the crazy things that have happened in the ring. One fight that's always bugged me is the Bruce Seldon vs. Mike Tyson. There's something about that fight has me scratching my head.Y ou know the one ...Tyson's comeback fight in 1996 when they killed Tupac. People say Mike didn't even hit Seldon and the dude just took a dive. I mean, I get that Tyson was a beast in his prime, but this was a whole new level of quick work. It makes you wonder, did Seldon really go down from a phantom punch?

I'm not here to throw shade at anyone, Tyson is my favorite boxer but it's worth discussing. Have you come across any other fights that looked kinda suspicious? Maybe you've got examples of fighters taking a dive or something fishy happening in the ring. Share your thoughts and let's get a conversation going.

MF how many favorite fighters do you have?? He's my favorite..

Anyway...Hopkins vs De La Hoya to me always looked like an exhibition fight...and that body shot was at best a tap. Oscar went down in agonizing pain like Virgil Hill...

Tito obviously had magic wraps when he faced Joppy. And probably Reid, Thiam and Vargas as well.

I saw Tyson-Seldon at a sports bar. Luckily we didn't have to pay any kind of cover but it felt like a ripoff regardless. It looked like bullshit in real time but when they showed the replay nobody was believing it.

It made some other guys looking for a way out when they actually at least took a few shots or went a few rounds like they "went out on their shield".

That's what's disgusting about it. You always hear things like "I would fight Mike Tyson for a million dollars" Yeah most people actually would because the chances of actually getting killed or pretty much nil when you get taken out in the first round. The thing is nobody is going to pay millions of dollars to promote a "fight" involving the guy at your office whose neighbors barely know. You expect a professional boxer to try harder than some bozo at the bar.

I thought the same thing. Do you remember back in the late 90s early 2k Trinidad's nick name was Cheato all over the internet.

The part that got me is that Kawaki was a Latino American Champion? Never in my life have I ever heard of such a thing.

Low level here but Richard Lartey took a clear dive in this fight and it is pretty clear to me he took a dive in the fight below that one, which was classed as some impressive KO by people who DKSAB. Goes down the exact same way

That's unsual most bars showing ppv events have cover charges. Unfortunately I did get the ppv and I felt ripped off. But I was such a fanboy honestly I didn't give a shit just happy to see Mike "still had it " so I thought. I was a shameless blind groupie. So bad I once got into an argument at a barbershop over a comment this guy made about Tyson vs Lewis being circus and that Tyson stood no chance. I was offended lol

Some people say Kovalev took a dive vs Canelo. That ko did look odd.

Kovalev's Pre-Fight Behavior was Suspect AF...

Sure, Be HAPPY You've Signed Up for a Career High Payday, But Requesting Light-Hearted SELFIES w/Your Opponent???...Kovalev Couldn't Mask How GRATEFUL He Was for the Canelo Payday, THEN the Bout Started and He Fought Like HE was the SMALLER Man...Never Once Tried to IMPOSE Himself on Canelo...

The KO Itself was Legit in REED's Opinion, But Kovalev's Pre-Fight Demeanor and MANNER of Fighting Definitely Raised Some Red Flags...

Holyfield-Douglas Never QUITE Set Well w/REED...

Undeniably Clean, Counter Right Hand by Holyfield, But Tyson DRILLED Douglas w/Several HARDER Shots in Their Bout...Nonetheless, Douglas Falls to His Side, Wipes His Face w/His Glove, Checking for Blood (CLEAR EYED AF), Then Rolls Over, Stretches Out FULLY and Lays There Until the Ref Removes His Mouf' Piece:rolleyes:...

It's Bad Enough Douglas' Physique DIDN'T Resemble His Tokyo Tyson Physique, Motherfucker Never ATTEMPTED To Beat Holyfield Either...Buster Douglas Didn't DESERVE to Take Mike Tyson's "O" From Him and the Holyfield "Fight" is the Evidence...

Whats funny is, if you look at Douglas from the holyfield fight, his physique is better than a lot of these current faggets at heavyweight

Yeah what a disgrace. My guess it's one of those cases of not going in with the intention of taking a dive but knowing in the back of their head they'll just find a place on the canvas if things aren't going their way.

I know you're a little older but back in the '80s Nintendo came out with a boxing video game called (Mike Tyson's Punch-Out). You could argue it was the golden era of Tyson's dominance and also the days of the Sega vs. Nintendo console wars. Then... out of the blue Buster Douglas pulled off the upset of the century and Sega even gave him his own game. Unfortunately for him that victory party didn't last long... with Holyfield swooping in for a knockout. The whole saga was utterly bizarre man. But it's a piece of gaming and boxing history. But yeah I felt the same way. Buster didn't deserve to take Tyson's aura of invincibility.

No, it's not. The right hand landed directly on the point of Moorer's chin. The sweet spot for any KO. Soon as Moorer dropped on the canvas, there's blood steaming out of his mouth, so you know the shot did true damage.

What's weird about a known glass jawed fighter getting stretched by one of the heaviest handed fighters who ever lived?

Canelo weight of 155 lbs. What kind of fighter needs his own weight class?

What the hell are you talking about. Catchweights in boxing have been used for many years way before Canelo. It can be traced to the early days of the sport. Some examples....

1)Cotto vs Martinez was fought at the limit of 159 lbs.

2)Dela Hoya vs Hopkins was fought at the limit of 158 lbs.

3)even the great Duran fought Leonard at a catch weight of 145 lbs.

4)Robinson the welter weight champ at the time fought Maxim for the the light Heavyweight champ at the time for the LHW title at a catch weight of 160.

5)Pacquio vs Cotto "welterweight" bout took place at 145.

6)DLH vs Campas title fight took place at the catch weight limit of 153.

    7)Mosley vs Vargas 162 catchweights.

Buster Had Already Slayed the Dragon Previously and Holyfield Showed Vulnerability in HIs Early Heavyweight Bouts...This Wasn't Bruce Seldon Being Led to Slaughter vs Tyson, Douglas Had the Potential to Actually WIN That Fight...He Just Couldn't Be BOTHERED To Try...

My bad I stand corrected I was thinking of DLH vs Mayweather. Shit Dlh was involved in a lot of catchweight fights.
