When were boxing forums unilaterally happy to see a guy lose?

When a guy loses, it's usually polarizing.

When Tarver beat Roy: Half the forum rejoiced, the other way fell into deep depression. And those percentages weren't equal forum to forum. For example, on here you had more guys sad, while on BoxingFanatics 90% of people were rejoicing.

Same thing when Hopkins beat Tito, or when MAB beat Hamed. Roy, Tito, and Hamed had HUGE fanbases, and equally big hater bases.

But when has a guy been so hated that every major boxing forum rejoiced when he lost?

For me, what immediately comes to mind is when Ottke KO'd Mundine. Mundine was so universally hated on all boxing forums, that ALLLLL posters on every forum put their differences aside for a day and united in laughing at his defeat.

    Other examples?

He certainly wasn't hated on every forum, but I don't recall too many people being upset when
Zab did the Chicken Dance vs Tszyu.

Nah, Zab had a big boxing forum fanbase pre-Tszyu.

His fanbase was nowhere near Roy or Tito level huge, but it was big.

Seems incredible to say this now, but in 2001 Zab had a bigger online fanbase than Floyd.

    Tszyu-Judah definitely doesn't apply.

When boxing forums were big, you had 5 fanbases that were so obsessive that they were almost cult-like: Roy's fanbase, Tito's fanbase, Oscar's fanbase, Mike's fanbase, and Hamed's fanbase.

If you exclude those 5, Zab had one of the bigger fanbases in the sport at the time. Easily top 10.

He had a few fans, but it was far outnumbered by guys who wanted to see him exposed.

I don't know about all forums, but practically all of ESB was in ecstasy when Bivol beat Canelo, well, except one guy. I wasn't around in any forums when it happened, but I imagine that Maidana vs Broner would also qualify.

Broner's the same as Zab. If you look at them now, you would think they were always disliked across the board, but at the time, no.

10 years ago Broner had a large online fanbase.

I can definitely see it. I remember visiting an older live thread of the fight once, and it had some big Broner fans in it that were hyping him up as the next Mayweather, but most of them literally turned against him after the beatdown, insulting him, mocking him and all that jazz. It was glorious.

    Yeah.

I would note for you Zab had a much more loyal fanbase than AB. The hype around Zab was also bigger. He was thought by many to be the heir apparent to Roy.

His fanbase was much bigger than Floyd's when I first started posting.

The predecessor of this board, fightworld.us, celebrated unilaterally when Sanders spanked Wlad. ESB had different atmosphere

I guess Baldomir might be the only one who was sad to see Ayala lose.

It was hilarious to go to ESB the day Sanders flattened Wald. I'll never forget it.

It was also a sad day on ESB when Gonzalez beat Michalczewski.

DM, even moreso than Wlad, was THE darling of ESB in the early 00s.

I think many were pleased to see Teofimo Lopez getting humbled when he lost to George Kambosos.

Not Bozo's fault. Blame Teo for hitting hookah lounges instead of hitting the gym. Teo's laziness gave us one of the worst lightweight titlists ever.

When mosley ko'd margarito because it had been exposed he was a cheater and moreover his performance showed why he felt the need to cheat.

    Seriously,

Can anyone name a worse fighter than bozo who was able to milk as many paydays off 1 lucky win?

How many rounds has he won since the Lopez fight?

Zero vs haney and then he got a gift vs maxi priest

Now he stumbles into another payday vs lomachenko

Yeah, I guess so now I think about it. It was 22 years ago and I mainly remember the widespread schadenfreude when Zab came unstuck
after being so cocky and such a heavy favorite. The hype evaporated instantly, and I think that skewed my recollection of him ever having
    much of a fanbase.

I was going to name Pacquiao-Margarito, but Pacquiao had been become polarizing and hated by Mayweather groupies.

Also, I remember some of the geniuses at ESB saying that Pacquiao cheated by using illegal wraps.

Yep, they said Margarito was set up by the CSAC but Pacquiao used dirty wraps

I feel like when Broner lost to Maidana that could meet the qualifications.

DM losing was unanimous on every non ESB board.
