I think too much is made of the "8 point lead thrown away" thing last season. City always tended to have a game in hand on Arsenal and they still had to play each other twice. This time they have a lead AND a win over City, so no excuses.

What's the deal with City this season?

Last season they lost three main players and still won the league. This season they lost two starters and two important subs -though one had gone on loan. They're in fourth place and still in striking difference but obviously off form from the last couple of seasons.

Early on, you just get the vibe that this is Arsenal's year to win it, unless they have a late-season mental collapse like last year. But they seem more mature and confident now. Like a team that feels they belong at the top.

I read the UEFA is thinking about inviting Ronaldo's team in Saudi to play in the CL next season.

Get the fuck out if here with that bullshit.

So invite a non-European club to the CL purely for dollars and ratings.

    Sounds about right.

Yes and supposedly they're changing the whole format next season. I have no idea what's coming but I like the way it is now.

All the changes happening in US sports are fucking things up. Adding games, adding playoff teams, fucking up all the tradition in college football. All for money so greedy rich bastards can get richer.

I expect the same to happen with UEFA. Fuck the fans, fuck the clubs, let's make some more money!

I've never followed college football. I watch the NFL come playoff time, but never found the appeal in college football. College B-ball, I used to follow big time in my youth. I'm a Carolina fan.

I do know they've added a dumbass play-in, and in-season tournament in the NBA.

Villa-Arsenal & spurs-n'cassle this weekend, fuck ye. Im glad the prems so exceptional this year its a welcome distraction from how shite supporting selik is this year. For some reason skysports seems to be about 50% rainbow pride chat this week, tho? No idea. OBEY

I have watched less big games this season. NBC/USA has been good over the years about putting most of the big matches on TV. Every once I a while they'll put a big derby on Peacock (paywall) just to get more fans to sign up.

This season they've had more big matches on Peacock. It's disappointing.

I don't know if they're not doing as well and are just bent on getting more subscribers or they're doing so well, they're pressing their luck and just telling the holdouts (like me) that if you want to follow this league you need to subscribe and that's the bottom line.

They can fuck themselves either way.

There's two streaming services that I have JUST for football: I have Peacock for the Prem, and I have Paramount+ because they have the CL, Europa, Conference, and they have the Italian, Brazilian, and Argentina Serie A's, and I follow them all, particularly the Brazilian league.

Obviously, Paramount+ is giving me a much bigger bang for my football bucks. Plus, what's cool is that Paramount+ plus keeps games for replay forever, it seems. You could go back and watch a CL or Serie A game from well over a year ago.

Fuckin Peacock deletes all Prem games that are older than 3 weeks.

Moreover, Paramount+ has much better NON-sporting content than Peacock.

Peacock can suck a dick. They're lucky I really like the Prem, because they don't offer much outside of the Prem.

I would add that Paramount+ also has the Scottish Prem, but they don't cover it as extensively as the other leagues I mentioned. They add Celtic and Rangers games like 4-5 days after they happen. With those other leagues, they feature each and every single game live.

Yep. It does seem they've gotten over a few mental hurdles and Rice has certainly added some much needed steel to the team. The Luton match aside, they seem far more solid defensively now in comparison to last season.

If Villa beat Arsenal then you might have to start taking them seriously. The thing is, they're always capable of a brainfart performance like against Bournemouth or Forest. Title may be slightly far-fetched but they're legit contenders for the top four.

    >>Everton are really, really bad. Will desperately need three teams to be even worse than them to stay up.

Three more wins should do it for us. Cannot believe what I've seen this season - never thought I'd see a side as good as this in black and white again.

Sorry. What did you say again?

We've literally got a full first team out injured. Literally. And our big money summer signing is banned for the season. We've eleven available first team players. Eleven. We can't even make subs as there are none available bar academy lads and backup goalies. We've played the same eleven players for 100 minutes for times in twelve days. They are absolutely fucking knackered. This season is essentially a write-off, league wise. We'll be mid-table by the time enough players come back. I'd play academy kids in the league and save the actual players for cup ties until it all settles down. It's that bad.

Despite all that, I thought we looked the most likely scorers until Trippier had a stroke or something. After that, our lot just considered mentally with exhaustion. There'll be more of this for a few weeks until players come back/are brought in in January. In the end, you won well.

Believe me pal, after fifteen years of the fat cockney bastard, watching eleven exhausted players run out of steam didn't even make the top 100 list of 'things to hide your face from'.

Didn't much enjoy it, though, that said.

This is the team NUFC could field with those currently out injured. It doesn't include Tonali, who is not injured but banned:

    Screenshot_2023-12-08-16-25-20-416_com.duckduckgo.mobile.android.jpg

We've a top eight PL side out injured. I've never seen anything like it in all my years of watching fitba.

I hope the pain of last season spurs (yeah fuck spurs) them on to the title and more.

That said, tomorrow is a HUGE game. Need to take all 3 points from Villa.
