To be honest, I'm not knocking, that's just the way it is now. I love Celtic, my dad's side are as Irish as it gets, Celtic is in our blood, but as a QPR fan I find it such a headfuck to be almost guaranteed a league title every year and still be in decline at the same time. Genuinely don't mean this to come across as a sarcastic piss take or anything like that, I just wonder if anything can be done to arrest the slide.

Celtic were as you say a few signings from getting into the last 32 in Europe. But one of the problems with the golden goose is that it's always your turn to slide your hand under his bum, but the other guys turn to feed him. Eventually, some fine night, everybody forgets to feed him and he stops laying. Until then, The Board will continue arguing over whose turn it is to feed and will continue sliding their hand under its arse to remove their lucre.

I feel like Celtic are a canary in the mine for whats going wrong in fitbaw generally in terms of how much less competitive its becoming. We're simultaneously the worst we've been in our whole 135 year history relative to europes best - even in the 90s when we were the third best in Scotland we could hang with the top sides in Germany or England on our day- yet the most dominant we've ever been domestically, including under Stein. We're maybe the most extreme example of that dynamic in europe but not unique in it

 

The insane thing is even on their own penny pinching, accountant terms it was stupid. The CL format changes next year and doubles the money for getting there. In a Celtic vs Rangers context thats game changing - next decade defining. We've risked all that to save a tuppence.

But even putting the penny pinching aside - 7 billion people on earth and the chairman's son is the best candidate to head recruitment. Cue 15 dud signings in an unbroken row. I dont think even the Whites & Kelly's would have been that brazen in their nepotism
