Prime-for-prime at lightweight, can any case be made for JCC beating Duran? I don't think anyone disputes that JCC would give Duran a tough fight, but on paper, he's just outgunned in virtually all facets of the game. Could he win?
He could catch Duran on an off night like DeJesus did the first time if Duran wasn’t 100 percent. Both at their best, I’d say Julio makes a fight of it and Duran has to earn it. I just feel Duran is more dynamic, and his speed, quickness, and superior athleticism are the difference. Duran via close UD in a very competitive fight.
JCC from the Rosario fight puts up a good fight with any version of LW Duran but will always fall short. Duran's inconsistencies and lapses started to show once he moved up in weight and indulge himself more.
I think it's a close fight unti the later rounds when the punishment catch up to Chavez. A late ko wouldn't surprise even with JCC's iron chin
Yeah, I agree. I don't see it as close. There's a difference between close and competitive. I think Chavez would be competitive, but I think there'd be a clear separation shown.
In the MM forum ages ago i had a longish post making a case for Chavez. It was basically that though, making a case for the sake of it it which i'm too lazy to repeat. Duran is a favorite, some see it wider than other but a favorite nonetheless.
