In an alternate universe if Buster Douglas was the favorite it would also have been the almost biggest upset in history after getting dropped in round 10.
It's worth noting something about Steve Albert: He wasn't the best blow-by-blow guy. Not in the class of Tompkins, Lampley, or Tim Ryan as an overall blow-by-blow operator. But purely for calling knockouts? Few ever did it better. Albert has some of the most memorable knockout commentaries ever. That was his strength imo. Hell, he might have been the best ever in that one department.
Hurtado vs Whitaker. Whitaker of all people pulls a come from behind on the ropes Tua type knockout. Hurtado should be embarrassed of himself .
I borderline wanna say Bowe-Hide. Herbie Hide had Bowe seriously hurt at one point. If Hide had the finishing ability of Tyson or Lewis, Bowe would have been a goner.
The thing is, when it came to taking out bums or over the hill fighters, Hide was usually a good finisher. He was just shit scared of Bowe so didn't press.
Holyfield-Cooper Norris-Waters Ali-Cooper 1 Holmes-Snipes Holmes-Witherspoon Morales-Espadas 1 Morrison-Purrity It was a strange fight. Bowe was in so many odd fights in the 90s. Hide seemed to hurt Bowe everytime he landed clean. Unfortunately, he also seemed to be suffering from an anxiety attack in the ring.
Toney-Tiberi Spinks-E. Davis GGG-Jacobs Arthur Mercante Jr. should also be embarrassed of himself for his dangerously inept refereeing at the e end.
Highly disagreed, Bowe was at most slightly buzzed,no more than Tyson vs Bruno (in their first fight). Hell, Larry Donald probably hurt Bowe just as much. Btw, I don't get why Hide got so much credit from the commentators in this one, looked to me like he basically was afraid and quit.
