I said jones jr would have beat the fuck out of Calzaghe and either made him turn bitch or get kod. Where did I mention the word mallard?

Jones had his chance with Calzaghe. Made Kellermans weep.

    Calzaghe knew his place

He stayed where it was safe among the Mario diets and kid fyre McIntyres.

Most Americans (including me) thought Lacy would best Calzaghe.

But most Calzaghe haters have one thing in common. They're 0-4 in predictions in his big fights. They picked Lacy, Kessler, RJJ & Hopkins.

To Joe’s credit, I believe he wanted the big fights but Warren played a major role in him not getting them. I think Warren probably figured he was past his best and pitted him against Lacy possibly thinking he’d cash him out while he could.

It was Warren and if you look at Hatton it was pretty identical, Hatton had to demand the Zoo fight....

I'd say Calzaghe was more complicit than Hatton, happy to follow Warren's business plan

    This...

Sadly for Calzaghe, His was the Era Where Euro Fighters STOPPED Hiding Overseas, Like Prince Naseem and Lennox Lewis...and Ricky Hatton to Follow...

Yet, Until VERY Late In His Career, Calzaghe was Lumped w/MichalSHITski and Other Euro Fighters Who Wouldn't Even ENTERTAIN the Notion of Fighting on American Soil...

Calzaghe's Admitted He COULDN'T Beat a Prime RJ...Beating a Twice KO'ed Roy Jones Meant NATHAN...

Yeah REED beat me to it. I remember Joe admitting that he wouldn't beat a prime Jones.

I think even Froch admitted he couldn't beat a prime Jones. With Carl's ego, that's saying a lot, because until then I never heard Froch say a guy would have beaten him.

    5 years?

Betwen the Eubank and Lacy fight ( more than 8 years), the only ''good'' fighter he faced was Brewer (no Sheika and Mitchell dont count).

edit: I guess you could also add Robbed Reid, who was, well robbed

Lol that's not really saying much. A prime RJJ would beat the fuck out of a lot of people and yes no doubt Calzaghe would be destroyed.

A fair few did, remarkably. I won a bunch of sig bets on that fight, including one with Mister REED (who may have made that pick with his heart, rather than his head tbf), if memory serves.

I think he pretty shamelessly ducked Glen Johnson. That's fairly clear. But he agreed to travel to America to fight Hopkins and signed a pre-contract to do so. Hopkins pulled out to fight that Hakkar guy and Joppy instead.

The Lacy fight was clearly intended by Werren as a cash-out. Most expected Joe to get laid out. It was only after that fight that everyone realised what a waste of a career Calzaghe had been up to that point.

Sky Sports did an interesting talk thing a few years back with Collins, Eubanks, Calzaghe, RJJ and Ritchie fucking Woodhall. It's probably still on YouTube somewhere. Collins spent the whole time acting the prick and challenging RJJ to fights :D Anyway, pretty much everyone bar Collins accepted that RJJ would have beaten them. RJJ said he thought his hardest fight would have been against Eubanks.

He's much better. After the injury he suffered really bad mental health problems and got almost as fat as Hamed. Sold the bar in Scarborough and denounced boxing. He's lost a load of weight. As coincidence would have it, I'm in Scarborough now with the missus. He's still milling around and he's recently opened a new bar with his boxing memorabilia back on the walls. It's great. Had a pint or two in there.
