Mbappé has done nothing not just in this game but all tournament. He's got 45 minutes to step it up and find something.

Spain starting to sit back a bit. Starting to play long ball. Starting to dive and roll around. Need to go back to their football here.

The French have nobody to blame but themselves if they lose this.

France a little one dimensional here. They’re dangerous on the wings with M’Bappe and Dembele but they have no creativity in the center.

France could have tied it late but they saw what happened to Germany after getting a late equalizer and didn't want to get all excited for nothing.

Spain have faced and beaten better teams than England which is why they'll lose to England.

While the result was no surprise the way Canada played was. (at least to me)

Years ago they would have decided after going down 2 goals to pack it in and keep the score "respectable". They kept fighting and and going forward at every opportunity. Ball movement was very good too, not just launching the ball.

At the end Argentina were the more fatigued side. Not that it's meaningful in and of itself but it shows that a fight was had and not a stroll in the park for the world champions in a knockout match. That' something you can build on even with a less talented squad. If they parked the bus they would have lost anyway and keep doing the same.

I thought France were going to go up a level after going 1-0 up, but Spain responded so well and Yamal's goal was stunning. Spain deserved the win. France blazed over several good opportunities and their deliveries in the box were overhit too often also.

Yep. MBappe and Dembelè were prime offenders.

France really had them rattled early. I never rated Spain's balls but they proved me wrong.

After Everton sacked Lampard, Rooney put out a statement saying that he was not interested in managing Everton.

The board had a good laugh and the fans breathed a sigh of relief.

I'm in a tough spot. I got home from work at 8:30 am. I had a beer on the way home. The game starts at noon here.

I have been up since 2:30 pm yesterday. The chances of me going to bed and getting back up for the game? Not good. The chances of me staying up til 2 pm to get the game in? Also not good. I bought a 20 pack of beer (technically 15 US pints.) So now it's unpredictable. Sometimes beer puts me straight to sleep. Sometimes it hypes me up. So we'll see.

    Remember!

    England 4:2 Netherlands

If anyone wants to get rich, take that to the hizzouse.

In truth, we all know this Spanish squad doesn’t hold a candle to the 2008-2010 squad that won a Euro and World Cup back to back. The level of CLASS was just way above this current squad.

But they did show some balls in there. They gave some hard fouls, took two of at least 3 major chances on goal, and held off the French desperate attacks.

We’ll see what that means in the finals against the England-Netherlands winner.

I think Spain 2008-2012 are the greatest international side ever (obviously Brazil 1970 are in the argument too), but I couldn't stand watching them. Much prefer watching the current lot, even though as PR said they're clearly inferior.
