It’s been 25 years since these two met. Till this day do you still think this was a big robbery or did you agree with the results? There really should have been a rematch to settle the score.

I was rooting for Tito at the time, have to be honest though I thought Oscar had done more than enough by the point he went for a jog, and should have got the decision.

Honestly DLH should’ve won that fight against Trinidad. He outboxed him for most of the fight..like clean, crisp jabs and movement. Dlh was making Trinidad miss a lot and controlling the ring. That’s what boxing is about.. hit and don’t get hitright? He was in control for the first nine rounds easily and even though he backed off in the last few rounds he was still making Trinidad chase him and Trinidad wasn’t landing anything significant.

People say De La Hoya was running at the end but he was just being smart. He knew Trinidad had power so why stand there and trade punches? He fought a smart fight. Plus...if you look at the stats De La Hoya landed more punches, with a better connect rate. Even guys like Teddy Atlas and Larry Merchant said Oscar should’ve won. Atlas said it best "De La Hoya did everything you’re supposed to do to win a fight." The judges just got it wrong that night. De La Hoya was in control for most of the fight and Trinidad didn’t do enough to take it from him. My two cents lol.

It's interesting this is some hotly debated fight like it was a classic battle or a masterpiece. It was neither. Shitty fight. Delahoya dominated the middle rounds 5,6,7-8. Other than that nothing really happened.

How did u blokes score the first 4 rds?

He's a fun fighter to watch but beyond that, he was too one-dimensional.

At 147 and 154 Tito was devastating. Legit or not, his power was overbearing for opponents. And he always threw combinations. And his jab was underrated too.

What's Even MORE Interesting is Doub Labeling it an "Underrated Fight IMO", BoxingFan25 CREDITING DeLa w/ "just being smart. He knew Trinidad had power so why stand there and trade punches? He fought a smart fight", When Both of these Motherfuckers NEVER Hesitate to Bitch and Moan About Shakur Stevenson Fights, in their Next Breath...

In Actuality, Shakur vs Herring, Valdez, Yoshino and Conceicao was More ENTERTAINING than DeLa-Trinidad...Dudes Are Either Straight Up Hypocrites OR They Don't Actually WATCH the Material They COMPLAIN About Incessantly...

    REED's Betting the Latter...

I thought the fight sucked. DLH's fights with Ike and Mosley were much more entertaining imo. I've always had it a draw, but I think I could see more leeway towards De La Hoya winning than Tito. It's too close to call a robbery imo.

Smart is one of the last words I'd associate with Oscar.

Oscar was overrated as an exciting fighter.

The only DLH fight that was truly a great fight was Mosley 1. So his most exciting performance was a clear loss.

I guess his most exciting win would have to be Vargas.

How exciting was DLH? He was the king of ppv and the face of boxing in the late 90s. That exciting.

I mean he got outboxed pretty easily by Oscar of all people. He had a tight left hook and good power. Yeah he threw combos but hes very overrated. Floyd would 12-0 him.

Not really, cause shakur never really had an exciting fight in his career (bar maybe herring). Were double and bf25 bitching about stevenson before the 2 aforementioned fights? I dont recall it

As for dlh trinidad, it was a disappointing fight, but i dont think it was a stinker. Was a mildly interesting tactical fight

Like REED Said, Shakur's Bouts w/Herring, Valdez, Yoshino and Conceicao were All More Fan Friendly Than DeLa-Tito Was...Until TODAY, REED Never Heard a Soul Suggesting DeLa-Tito Was Anything OTHER Than a Stinker...

let’s be real...comparing Shakur to legends like De La Hoya and Trinidad is a joke. De La Hoya vs Trinidad was a huge fight with everything on the line. Sure it wasn’t the Hearns/Hagler 2 brawl we all hoped for but when you’ve got two of the best going at it .. it’s more like a chess match. Shakur on the other hand hasn’t even proven himself yet. He hasn’t fought anyone and holding a belt doesn’t make you elite. How can you compare a fight like that to Shakur vs De Los Santos where nothing is really at stake?

Once Shakur starts fighting top level competition and starts building his own legacy maybe we can talk. But for now you can’t put him in the same conversation as two Hall of Famers. Simple as that.

Please Move the Goalpost Back to its Original Position and Tuck the Strawman Away in Your Pocket...Those Lame Ass, Donald Trumpish Debating Tactics are Futile Against REED...

"Be Real" About What???...Only Thing REED is "Comparing" is a SINGULAR Fight Involving Dela and Trinidad to 4 CONSECUTIVE Fights Involving Shakur Stevenson...No MORE, No LESS...You're Trying to Make This About the FIGHTERS to Mask Your Blatant Hypocrisy...

"Underrated Fight IMO", "just being smart. He knew Trinidad had power so why stand there and trade punches? He fought a smart fight"

Shakur Stevenson's Never Received Even a MODICUM of Credit from You or Doub on Fightbeat, Which is Fine...

Until You Come On Here PRAISING Dela for What was Probably the Most PANNED Performance of His Entire Career...Herring, Valdez, Conceicao, Yoshino...4 CONSECUTIVE Bouts, Yet You and Doub Subscribe to the "Shakur is ALWAYS Boring" Bandwagon, Even When he ISN'T...

Hell, Shakur Brought the BITCH Out of Harutyanyan in his Last Fight...Harutyanyan REFUSED to Engage After 3-4 Rounds, Yet YOU and Doub Were Here Predictably, Blaming Shakur for Being "Boring" Afterwards...

So NO, You Don't Get to Put On Your Rose Colored Dela Glasses, Cock your Head Sideways and Try to SELL What was a BORING Ass Performance as Anything OTHER Than Such...If Shakur Stevenson is "Always Boring", Despite the Performances vs Herring, Valdez, Conceicao and Yoshino (Back to Back to Back to Back), Then Dela vs Tito was ABSOLUTELYfuckingBORING!...

You Can't and WON'T Have that Shit Both Ways....Not On REED's Watch...Trying to Make Exceptions for Fighters You LIKE???...Nope!...

Kind of weird (and off topic) to talk about Shakur in this thread. Guess its to "expose" the biais of double and bf25, but guess what, were are all biaised to some extent

It was a very disappointing fight. Disappointing in terms of action and drama, and ended with a controversial decision at that.

Oscar said in the Legendary Nights episode that he was tired due to the constant movement and his legs were shaky so I get why he stayed away like that, although it made for dull viewing. Tito wasn’t exactly doing a lot either. Oscar took advantage of Tito’s slower feet and vulnerability to straight right hands down the middle.

I had it for Oscar 115-114

    Round 1: Even
    Round 2-3: Oscar
    Round 4: Tito
    Rounds 5-7: Oscar
    Round 8: Tito
    Round 9: Oscar
    Round 10-12: Tito

Pretty much all the rounds Tito won were close rounds.
