How it helps them, how it hurts them. Past or present. Also, feel free to point out fighters excessively tense in the ring.
Tyson Fury is completely relaxed in the ring. He's been fighting his entire life and it shows. It usually helps him but his clowning sometimes comes back to haunt him, badly. MTF
Hard to think of better examples than these, although I'm not sure about RJJ. Would be interested to hear your take on current fighters too. Other examples that come to mind: Relaxed Castillo Chavez Israel Vazquez McCallum (no doubt ine reason Toney vs. McCallum was such a pleasure) Hagler
How was Jones not relaxed? Just check out the opening minute of the Brannon fight. He was always calm, smooth, and under control, save for him fouling Griffin.
Roy was very relexed for sure... you gotta be when you're fighting with your hands down the whole fight
I don't like to use the term 'relaxed' because that implies something that is not true or relevant. I used to say that until I was educated by a man that fought Zora Folley and sparred with Ali, Frazier and Liston. He would always tell me 'you have to get loose.' That said, very few guys were as loose as Jorge Paez. I have seen him fight in person, I have seen him spar several times, no tension in him.
Speaking of Bowe, he was probably the most relaxed hw ever. Foreman 2.0 and Fury are also good call though, and I'd give a shout to Tim Whiterspoon too. Amongst current fighters, Benavidez looks very relaxed in there.
