Eddie Hearn is trying to get into Beterbiev’s head. I don’t think it’s a good idea for Hearn to piss him off, especially when he’s already on a losing streak. Why risk firing up Beterbiev and potentially having Bivol stopped?

Honestly, ive never believed these kind of things makes any difference. If you cant get fired up by fighting for the undisputed lhw title and a place in a hof, a few insults wont suddenly change everything

 

It’s all a mental game with a lot at stake that still requires the mindset to be fired up. I just think it was unnecessary for Hearn to take jabs at Beterbiev considering both fighters have been nothing but respectful towards each other during the build up.

 

My guess is hearn is just trying to create some buzz around the fight.

How would you rate this fight on most anticipated fights of 2024 list?

This is about as good as it gets. Can't bekieve they're actually fighting. It's worth remembering that left to theor own devices, TR and Matchroom don't make this fight.

 

Really, really looking forward to this. As Doub says, this is about as good as it gets. I still think Beter wins but he's older now and if he's not quick enough to cut the ring off any more, he could get badly outboxed. It's one of those fights where you can see several different ways it all goes down and where, in hindsight, we'll look back and say how obvious it all should have been to see. Wardley v Clarke on the undercard should be another absolute belting watch, just to get us in the mood, too.

I'm watching Lennox doing some ring work with Frazer Clarke on Sky this morning. It's a really interesting watch - Lennox could be a genuinely good coach, if he was minded to do it.

Almost forgot that Wardley vs Clarke 2 is on the card. Had to rewatch the first fight. Excited to see the rematch almost as much as the main event.

I think he can pin Bivol to the ropes often enough and do enough damage to break Bivol down.

 

I'm still going with Beter. I'm on record as saying that Bivol is overrated. Excellent fighter, but overrated. I think Beter's gonna grind him down.

I see Bivol getting off to a good start and then Beterbiev making a big comeback to grind him down and stop him late.

This fight is a coin flip if there ever was one, imo.

I think bivol is a clear favorite. Beterbiev was fighting on pretty much even term with Gvozdyk until the latter rounds, and that was 5 years ago (fuck times fly) and bivol is a few levels above the nail
