watched this Spanish movie recently on Netflix....it's a pretty good 7.5/10 kinda movie check it out imdb link The Platform (2019) - IMDb
No, I moved here to be plain ol’ below average rather than being laughably below average in the states.
The first half had great potential (reminded me of snowpiercer) but it all fell apart in the second half. Second half had too much gore was too disgusting and tried to be too deep and just fell on its face . 6.5/10 overall.
It wiz disgusting all the way through... Ah wiz aboot tae list all o' the incidents but dinnae wantae spoil things fer any sick bassas still wanting tae watch it. Fair put me off ma supper.
Yeah, about 6.5. It was what it was. Pretty much what you would have expected from the trailer. No better, no worse. I thought they did a good job with the set design and all. I didn't think the gore was that crazy. Like the more effective "SAW" movies, it made you think you were seeing more gore, then what was actually going on. I found the general food situation they were facing, much more disgusting then any of the actual gore or violence going on. Ending was pretty wank, concept was interesting but execution was pretty shallow. One big fucking logic flaw that was apparent from almost the beginning, almost ruined it for me, but I decided to overlook it until the end, and then I was like..........well, fuck this shit, it's fucking stupid. So, worth a watch if you've got nothing else to do, but don't have high expectations or anything.
Yeah I agree with most all of your review. I found the film very interesting, especially when you’re learning how the facility works and the different rules and extremes some go to to survive. Very good performances, dialogue and visuals. I enjoyed it and agree the ending was weak. It wasn’t ruin-the-overall-film bad, but it could have been so much better. Doesn’t seem to have much replay value but I certainly didn’t regret sitting through it. In fact I started it with the intention of just seeing if I liked it and got sucked in til the end. 6/10.
What do you expect from Netflix. They constantly put quantity over quality. I can't tell you how many times I see a movie on there and get excited until I check IMDB scores and reviews and wind up just skipping the entire thing. That's what I did with the Platform 2. Also, I guarantee the 2nd season of Squid Game won't be half as good as the first. I guarantee they have no idea where to take the story from here. Their best option is to just rehash the same story as season 1 just with different people. But of course they're going to try to do something different and it's going to flop.
I gave it a shot. Lasted about 10-15 minutes. It was just some fat bald guy arguing about pizza. Acting was bad and all they did is talk about the rules of the platform etc... seems like Netflix is just latching onto everything and anything people ever liked and just dish out sequels/reboots/whatever going by name value alone and not actually putting effort ir time into quality...
