Like I say it's probably true that they're more helpful than not and a lot of the negativity is basically an upset tobacco manufacturer throwing money at lobbyists.

I'd say processed food is the biggest villain today because while not everyone drinks, everyone eats. Everyone.

Go into a regular convenience store and show me one fucking healthy food item for sale?

Maybe ground coffee. Maybe full fat milk .

    That's it.

They change their tune when they realise they can get people hooked on vapes but, wonderfully, such customers don't die horribly and early like smokers.

Kids shouldn't vape, but then they shouldn't be sat staring at devices all day, drinking shots, hoovering cheap coke up their noses and a hundred other things. Being addicted to nicotine isn't good, obviously, but of itself it's almost completely harmless, Save for the addiction. You need to injest about a bottle of the stuff to do any measurable harm.

Tighten up enforcement, stop kids from doing it, regulate the liquids tightly and you've got a money making machine which doesn't actually happen anyone much.

I had a little work last year when I started having a tab or two when I was in the boozer. Inside five weeks, and after about ten smokes in total, my cardio started going backwards. Noticeably.

Fuck that. Smoking is really, really bad.

It's the high end breathing, the type of deep breaths you need when the cardio starts to drag on. Not the day to day shuffling around.

Nicotine is a great drug. But tobacco is an awful awful means of delivery.

Aye. Loads of worried parents cryarsing on the telly because little Bobby is on the vapes and absolute no concern that the little cunt is fat as fuck, unable to run fifty yards without stopping and is currently out the house hoovering a Donner kebab into his hole with his mates because his curry-in-a-jar off his ma for his tea didn't quite do the job.

    Nee bother.

If I am looking back, being honest to myself, I think I've smoked without interruption since 1996, so that's 28 years. I've been on vapes (given to me for free by the NHS) for three weeks now and I haven't craved cigarettes at all. Anyone who hasn't smoked before has zero idea how much that simple statement means, they really don't. Vapes are genuinely the greatest invention since sliced bread.

AgREED. Vapes solve that problem almost entirely. It's a win-win all round as far as I can see.

Good for you pal. You've no reason to ever smoke again. Vapes are a fucking miracle. They'll save literally millions of lives.

It absolutely cracks me up watching mooks on the telly, proudly boasting about how they 'cook everything from scratch' as the reach for a jar of Uncle Ben's, some microwave rice-in-a-bag and some lovely poppadoms out of a plastic box. Daft grins on their face as they slice up some chicken tits, talking about how healthy it all is.

    Clueless.

100% mate. It's really difficult to explain to a non-smoker like my missus, but there is genuinely nothing that can hit the tobacco feeling at the back of your throat like a vape. If something other than a cigarette can hit that feeling without drenching your lungs with tar then what is the fucking issue?!

Remarkably, there is almost universal scientific consensus that vapes are great. It's politicos and hedge funders who don't like them, and the media narrative around them is dangerously false.

I must have tried to quit smoking about ten times before I actually did it. What non-smokers will never understand is just how much a smoker enjoys smoking. I loved it and only gave it up because I'd seen so many of if my relatives die horrible deaths that I knew I was headed the same way. And because it cost a fucking fortune lol I bought a vape and that was it. All the enjoyment of smoking but a tiny fraction of the health risks and general shitty side-effects.

I honestly don't understand why anyone smokes anymore. Vaping can, and should, end it sometime soon.

I love the business of illicitly recieving a cigarette and knowing I have it, and cherishing it. I'll then quietly slide off upstairs and crack open the window and snip about 1.5cm off the filter and the far end. Then I'll spark it up and enjoy the fast burn and great draw you get. It's very gratifying, the entire process

Aye, smoking would be great, if it didn't wipe years off your life and turn your entire CV system to mulch. I still treat myself to a small cigar at Christmas and on my birthday. Get good, expensive ones from the only tobacconist left in Newcastle city centre. Look forward to them every year.

Aye, that's probably right. It's a tough one for the government, though. They know how beneficial they are, compared to smoking, and they have seen the significance industry that's built around them, so they have to be seen to 'be tough' on something they probably quite like.

Well that's the other thing. People smoke shit because that's what's for sale.

Ditto food. They eat what's for sale.

All the rich neighbourhood have a Gails and a Waitrose. There is NOT ONE off license in those areas.

The shitty hoods have Iceland, Popeye's, Chicken Cottage.

KFC is my rare takeaway treat but it absolutely rips through me straight afterwards. It takes some doing to make something as healthy as chicken and make it that bad for you.

My weakness is fish and chips. Nothing beats a large haddock, chips, mushies, curry sauce, bread and butter and a pot of tea at the coast. Absolute heaven. Usually have to put a few extra km into my runs when I know I'm heading to the coast soon...

I remember paying £3 for a fish supper when I was 18 or so. Went to Whitby in the summer and got charged £45 for fish and chips twice with tea, bread and butter and some mushy peas. Wasn't in The Magpie, either (overrated as fuck that place).

    Scandalous.
