I'm a few days late, but Vini Junior's performance earlier this week against Dortmund I think solidified that he, not the French turtle, is the best player in the world right now.

Billionaire football boys standing to attention for The Last Post trotted out on a bugle by some nerdy looking chap in a stadium owned by foreign oil.

    Bloody marvellous.

Poppies, trumpets, ten hut! Everybody claps.

    Bloody marvellous again.

Now, we shall condemn racism and discrimination and take the knee the week after the same powers that order our Saturdays for us coalesced in unison around an extra judicial execution.

It's only racism when they need it to be!!

He's been very underwhelming. We'll see if he turns up his level for Barca today.

Barca just beat the fuck outta Madrid. Love to see it. This Barca squad is no joke at all. Serious CL contenders.

I caught the Madrid-Barca extended highlights. Barca look frightening going forward. So many weapons in that team. Raphinha loving life there. Madrid wasted many opportunities. Was a very open game.

Nice double header today on sky. Chelski Newcastle, Arsenal Liverpool. I'm going with wins for Chelski and Liverpool.

That was a superb counter-attacking goal from Chelski. Quality long pass from Palmer, Neto with a perfect pass across for Jackson who finished clinically.

2-1. Palmer given too much time to glide towards goal and slots it away. You have to be on top of a guy like Palmer. Give him too much space and time and he'll hurt you.

Chelski win 2-1. Man Utd currently 2-1 down late on at West Ham.

Man U were never quite star-studded like a Real Madrid but they had guys like Giggs, Rooney, Scholes, Beckham, Van Nistelrooy among many others. Now you look at names on the squad and it's hard to imagine a single player making an all star team if such thing existed in football.

Fantastic game. Arsenal deservedly ahead. Saka has been a handful. Not bad for a man who's meant to be injured.

Ten Hag must have sex trafficking dirt on United's Board if he still keeps his job. Surely he's gotta be sacked very soon.

Probably but what does it matter at this point. A new manager will come in, they will win a few games and all the fans and pundits will claim things are the right track. Sounds awfully familiar.

Fact is they have a sorry lot of players.

There must be something in the water at Arsenal. Players going down injured left, right and centre.

Maybe it's more than the managers who are to blame for their repeated struggles when it comes to signings. It could be their recruitment structure from the top to the bottom. May need a complete overhaul.

Yep, Here's an ESPN headline today:

"VAR gives Man United boss Ten Hag another way to deflect blame"

I didn't read the article, see the match or even any highlights. Sometimes it doesn't matter because they are pre-written narratives.

Another way to deflect blame. In other words he's all to blame. Insert some "well, others could have done better too" but make it a footnote. The supporters and media are so up Ferguson's ass they believe they are one manager away from the good ol' days.

Gary Neville, would be politician Gary Neville, takes it a step further. He says it's all down to the owners! Swap the owners! If we get different people to give us the same money we'll get different results!

    It's guaranteed!

Ten Hag, fwiw, is his own worst enemy. He keeps babbling about some grave misfortune or some very grave error of judgment by some official or undercurrent of unfairness etc etc.

He knew when he took that job he was going into a lions den of narcissists and prima donna rat bags

I don't mind that people harken back to the Ferguson era and presume all was good and right and will be again if he was resurrected but I resent that they never admit why things were better under Ferguson OR admit that a large part of why things are as bad as they are now is because he ran things like he did when he was there.

Ferguson was dictatorial and elitist and built his regime on the bedrock of surviving the first 6 years of his tenure.

You don't get 6 years anymore.

Mourinho getting sent off in a 1-1 draw at home to United managing some Turkish rabble in a piss pot Tournament said it all for me.

    When you're done, you're done.

Nobody at Chelsea is screaming for Mourinho to return .
