Davis could ko mosley, especially mosley toward the end of his LW reign. IF there's a rehydration clause

Ain't a clause in the universe that would save Tank.

Shane could be on his death bed wasting away from terminal cancer and still whup Stank.

This is a mismatch of the highest order. Lightweight Mosley ends Tank inside of 6.

This fuckin fraud lost the first 4 rounds to ROLLY!

  4. Neil

    Neil tueur de grenouilles

If mosley had to make 143 on the day of the fight that woulda killed him after 1997

  5. Xplosive

Tank wouldn't have the pull to demand such a clause on Shane.

If the two were around in the same era, Davis would not be the same kind of star he is today.

But lets put ridiculous hypothetical clauses aside -- Mosley was better than Davis at everything. ON TOP of being a much bigger and much physically stronger man.

Davis is just a much smaller guy than mosley. That's the main thing

And he's still better than any lightweight mosley beat

First fight I was ever ringside for was mosley vs John brown, who's about the size of davis. Mosley looked like a welterweight and dwarfed the guy. He musta been 12 to 15 lbs heavier in the ring

Idk what would happen if Davis was around back then but he's been promoted a helluva lot better than mosley was by kushner and them other clowns before that

Davis of today would dictate everything vs that barely known mosley

Tank Davis would never be a mainstream star in the 90s, Neil. He's the product of the social media era where nobody knows better anymore and any gimmick can make a guy rich & famous. Which explains why Ryan & Jake are the biggest stars in the sport outside of Nelo.

Its not nostalgic to say that the standard was higher back in the 90s. Tank is a professional duck artist. He couldn't build a star profile on fighting a bunch of nobodies back then.

Think of alllllllllll the non-heavyweight stars of the 90s; they all had much stronger resumes than Tank.

Tank would be a nobody in the 90s. He'd be getting his ass pasted by Floyd or Shane, except he would never fight them in the first place. He'd duck Stevie Johnston too.

The man is a fraud and this MM goes without saying.

Tank cant beat Roach and he struggles with Barrios, Pitbull, and Rolly.

Mosley, even a weight drained Mosley, would kick the ever living shit outta Tank.

Are you suggesting mosley has a better lightweight resume than davis?!

Romero is now a 3 division champion, by the way

Yeah it's not even recency bias. most of these people don't know a thing. On the internet anybody can post an opinion, it's not like there is any minimum qualification.

    Yeah, its pretty damn clear.

Davis' gimmick wouldn't cut in the 90s. He wouldn't be beating enough top guys to ever make it to mainstream stardom.

He would have got some attention simply because of his power but he wouldn't have lasted.

Romero being any champion, much less a 3 weight champion, tells you how weak this era really is. Even K-9 Brundrage was better than Rolly and I never thought that I would ever say that.

Neil likes Davis for some reason. Or if he doesnt, he often defends him.

Lejia and Molina, though they were past their primes, were better than anyone Tank beat. Philip Holiday was also better than any of Tank's wins.

There is no defending Davis at all in this matchup. You cant even give him a puncher's chance considering Shane's great chin.

    It'd be a slaughter.

TBH, I'm not 100% sold that Tank beats a prime Philip Holiday.

Yep, i don't have any problems picking Tank against those guys but no way he ever beats Mosley.

Total mismatch. Tank would likely go into a shell after taking a couple of rights from Mosley. Shane would start getting to him with body shots which Tank would make Tank fold. I think he’d quit in the corner sometime in the mid rounds.

To X’s point, I agree 100 percent but Tank wouldn’t have been able to get away with NOT fighting these guys at some point. Boxing back then was different in that if you were a career duck artist, you wouldn’t get the mainstream appeal that he’s getting today in the age of social media and podcast culture. He definitely wouldn’t be making the money he makes to fight the stiffs he’s fought today for millions.

In the 90s, Tank gets found out by some mid-level contender, imo.

Yeah it's different today. Imagine if Oscar dela Hoya acted like he was king of the world after knocking out Ruelas and sitting on the sidelines.

Yes, which speaks to how terrible Tank's resume is.

Raf Ruelas was better than Ryan, Rolly, Cruz, Barrios, Martin, etc.

In fairness, PAW is also the second best fighter in his family after Khalid ibn al-Walid.

I still dont get the angle of defending Davis here. He couldn't lick even a weight drained Mosley. This guy needed damn near the full fight to stop a washed up, crippled Gamboa. Tank ain't Julian Jackson.

Mosley has the edge even in power here. Shane stopped plenty of durable guys throughout his career.

Mario fucking Barrios is the best fighter Tank has faced. Mario Barrios... and Tank struggled in that fight.

Antonio Diaz was way better than Barrios, and we saw what prime Mosley did to a Diaz level fighter.

There is an ASTRONOMICAL gap in class here.

One guy was once considered P4P #1 in an era of Jones, Trinidad, Floyd, and Oscar.

The other doesnt even make The Ring's top 10 P4P in this piss poor era.

Imagine that. Having a resume that is so bad that you don’t even make today’s top 10 pound 4 pound in this weak era??… Smh.

    Tank is a joke.
