Good for him. He had nowhere to go from here. I think he was a solid guy. A overachiever. Not quite a hall of famer. But he had a solid run.
I wouldn't be shocked, but I doubt on first ballot. For me, a guy hardly belongs in the Hall based on beating Prograis and Ramirez. Neither Regis nor Ramirez will be remembered much by history.
Good fighter. Not World Class. Good enough to give Max Kellerman sleepless nights. That's always nice. But not World. Also an uncouth boring asshole with zero appeal outside the ring. Would have lost badly to Buchanan. Domestic losses to Jack Cartrall are embarrassing. Fuck it the longer I go on the worse he gets. Won't miss him. Was frankly more intrigued by Amir Khans career.
A strange pattern in British boxing since the 90s. They always seem to have a patch of good fighters in four particular weight classes. 126, 140, 168 & heavyweight.
That's the second time I've seen him referred to as an asshole on here. I must have missed what he did. What was it?
I think Khan would have beaten Taylor pretty easily. I said that even before Josh lost to Fimo. Taylor would have had zero answers for Khan's speed.
His entire demeanour, fucking Hardman routine, Scott Harrison style bullshit. "I wanna be alone", arms folded, sourpuss
Taylor wouldn't have beaten him at all, and you know that. Maidana would have stopped Josh. Alexander would have outboxed him pretty easily.
I dont know if I saw khan vs Alexander so I can't comment on it I dont know that maidana beats taylor. I know for damn sure khan didn't beat maidana easily, as you claimed, if at all
Huh? You must have misread. I never said Khan "easily" beat Maidana. It was a close fight. In the end, Khan did deserve the narrow win. You've been overrating Josh Taylor. I remember a few years ago you said he would have beaten a prime Tszyu. Maidana would have beaten the shit outta Josh. Even that bum Baranchyk rocked Taylor and took about 4 rounds off of him. Nothing Taylor ever did suggests he would beat a prime Maidana.
Naw you musta misread, just scroll up As for khan maidana. Trash khan hurt him early then was in survival mode the last 3rd of the fight tryina avoid facelubes fate Hardly some stellar showing and it wasn't like that was even the best version of maidana who improved greatly when he linked with Robert Garcia
I'm curious as to what Josh ever did that truly impressed you. At least Khan showed in the Alexander fight that he can easily blitz a skilled southpaw. Josh never demonstrated that he could cope with speed.
Taylor definitely overachieved. He was really fun to watch coming up through the domestic scene. I'll always appreciate him dismantling that twat Ohara Davis like he did. It was a bit of a damp squib how his career ended, but fair play to him, he achieved something (belts-wise) that a ton of better, greater boxers were never able to do. I'd be signing off every email, text, DM with that shit .
Whilst as a person he had some questionable qualites, you can't argue with unifying all the titles and becoming undisputed, not many have ever achieved that in any division, and 140 is a tricky division to achieve it. Some guys made undisputed by winning all the titles from someone else, but winning them all and bringing them togther is a special thing. He had a short prime and his career ended pretty badly, that goes against him, but he did well with the tools he had.
One thing I agree on is that boxers- even guys we don't think are taleted or entertaining- who come in and rid us all of a certain problem are always going to get a certain sort of respect. Like Bellew getting rid of Haye. Bellew was no star and was pretty annoying but Haye just needed removing.
