Another great fighter gone. Boxing will miss the Camden Buzzsaw who was absolute beast at light heavyweight. RIP Champ https://bmorenews.com/boxing-legend-dwight-muhammad-qawi-passes-away-at-72/amp/
REED Ain’t Sure He’s Ever Seen a Fighter ENJOY Inflicting Pain/Punishment as Much as Qawi’s Short, Sadistic Ass Did… Devoured Poor Saad Muhammad Like a Jungle Cat Dining on a Gazelle, Grinning Like a Kid on Christmas All the While… One of the MEANER Fighters of All Time, Unquestionably…R.I.P. Champ! REED
Dwight took out his frustration of losing to Michael on poor Leon Terry Norris was another visually sadistic fighter.
Have there been any other non-HWs who reached such a high level after starting boxing so late? B-Hop boxed as a kid before going to prison and returning to boxing. Unless I’m mistaken, Dwight didn’t have formal boxing training until Rahway
Tarver didn't seriously start boxing until 23, and he didn't become a HW until his 40's (Rocky Balboa notwithstanding)
Tarver reached the pinnacle of his career when he whipped lateef the truth speaker coyote in his 40s and was robbed
Yep. Guy just enjoyed fighting. He had such a beautiful style of fighting, probably the guy i like watching the most. The story of him learning to box in jail, and going back to the same jail to beat the bully is so outlandish, that if you saw it in a movie youd just laugh and stopped watching it Rip champ
Indeed... Eddie Mustafa was the Most TALENTED, Saad was the Most MEMORABLE, But Qawi was the BEST of the Lot... REED
The Jailhouse Bully You Speak of HAS to Be James Scott...He was a Good Enough Light Heavy to Warrant @ Least a COUPLE Nationally Televised Bouts from Rahway State Prison, Which REED Vaguely Recalls Watching as a Kid... Crazy Ass Concept for Sure... REED
When Mike Tyson Went to Jail, REED Half Expected a Televised Jailhouse Fight or 2, Based on James Scott Doing It... REED
I watched Scott's rahway fights. Other than the novelty of being in prison none were memorable or entertaining
Scott scored a big upset on EM Muhammad in Rahway I saw Qawi’s win over Scott in Rahway. I concur with the above post that it wasn’t an especially memorable fight other than the unusual fight location.
