Someone on IG just told me today that Wilder would KO both Ali and Lewis… How did boxing become infested with such retards? I hate the internet…
Wilder MIGHT KO Lewis if you look at some of Lewis performances like Briggs, Mavrovic, Rahman, Mercer. It's the kind of thing that's possible . what fucks me off is the certainty of these morons....they KNOW it would happen!! Likewise you look at Clay eat a single left hook from Cooper and it's possible Wilder does him. It's just very very unlikely.
Lewis might lose to Wilder once out of about about fifty goes. He might, just might, land a lucky retard shot. But let's be serious about it. Wilder couldn't even KO a gypsy (who got put on his arse by two cruiserweights) when he hit said gypsy flush. Twice. The skill difference is ginormous. Lewis would have ended that berk inside three about 80% of the time. MTF
The thing about the Reddit/Facebook era is that you no longer have to have any knowledge on any subject to speak about it. In the late 90s/early 00s, when 99% of us started out on forums, you had to KNOW BOXING to post on a reputable message board, or you'd be run out in shame. You also had to have enough passion and knowledge for the sport to even FIND a reputable forum in the first place. Hence, you didn't have nearly as many retarded comments 25 years ago. Even Eastside, which was extremely racist in the early 00s, was better back then, because at least they were Nazis who knew the sport. I'd take that Eastside era over the current state of affairs over there. Reddit and Facebook, and just generally more outlet access, have given casual boxing fans who dont have a fraction of our knowledge and understanding of the sport a platform to regularly speak on it.
I have never known the pleasure of logging into that piece of shit. And I can promise now I never will. I don't know what's more astonishing. That a website with such a horrific reputation is still going after nearly 25 years or that otherwise normal people from here check in on it regularly.
Exactly. The big difference is this is a boxing forum. There are forums dedicated to virtually everything. People usually join with a keen interest and want to know more or want to discuss things about that topic. There will always be a difference in experience, knowledge and opinions but their remains a common interest. With the giant sites people don't join with that same intent. They can tiptoe to into various subjects, come across some video that gets the most likes/upvotes and feel like they've learned something. Then the comments influence them which opinions are also the most popular. Now they're "qualified" to comment (in an authoritative manner no less) on a saxophone or crochet forum. But why stop there? Have your say on Ethology or Korean politics too.
The other problem is that recency bias among newer fans is absolutely rampant; a phenomenon which isn't unique to boxing, it's this young generation of sports fans in general. None of these kids have any respect for athletes that came before their time. Which, again, is a recenct trend. When we were young, our generation had a lot more respect for the athletes of the past. Which is why you see so many "Wilder KOs Ali and Lewis" posts from these teeny boppers.
i know ive posted this before but ive been reading eastside for a good 20 years, although there is a large modern bias and previously was bizarre (during darius m era and klitschko reign) its still nice to see a semi hardcore boxing site with decent traffic.
To be fair to ESB, it was very good like 8-10 years ago. Even 5 years ago. The best its been. The general forum wasnt as overrun with idiots, and the Classic Section was superb. Too many casuals have infiltrated the Classic Section in the past 3-4 years ago.
It's ironic how many people are so misinformed in the "information age". Most of it is deliberate and targeted. Boxing is not likely to be considered important, but it's not immune . Anyone today can go to yoube or other sources and have access to full fights that years ago people would pay money for and wait in the mail to receive. Why bother with that effort? Some guy with the title of bo4ngexprt77 posted a short video and the comments below all agreed that this guy would DESTROY that other guy.
Not defending these guys, cause most of them are indeed idiots, but comparing fighters from different era is a very subjective affair
