A really good fight indeed. I'd say that on their very best nights Moorer wins, but Usyk wins six or seven out of ten
Depends on what kind of fight it becomes. A tactical chessmatch favors Usyk. A firefight favors Moorer.
Usyk whips him at heavy. Based on what we've seen. As to my earlier question, if it's at cruiser moorer has a better chance. Usyk and his cold war peds has been stronger and better at heavy
I'm leaning in the opposite direction. I think Moorer beats him at his best. I think a big part is that Moorer will attack Usyk's body and it will cause him to fade. I don't think Usyk cracks hard enough to dent Moorer's chin with one shot so it will definitely be a tough fight for him. He could outbox Moorer but unlike Joshua and others Moorer wouldn't get discouraged and would definitely keep pressuring Usyk. I'll take Moorer in a close one.
Here is a fully realistic, styles-based, prime vs. prime simulation of Oleksandr Usyk vs. Michael Moorer at heavyweight, scheduled for 12 rounds, scored with a 10-point must system. This assumes prime Moorer (1992–1994 version) and prime heavyweight Usyk (2021–2023 version). Usyk: Southpaw, master of angles, footwork, feints, stamina, volume, high ring IQ. Moorer: Southpaw, sharper single-shot power, excellent jab, accurate counters, but hittable and not as mobile; sometimes mentally fades in fights. So this is a fight between a high-output technician (Usyk) and a heavy-handed precision puncher (Moorer). Let’s run it. --- OLEKSANDR USYK vs. MICHAEL MOORER – REALISTIC 12-ROUND SIMULATION Round 1 Both start cautiously. Usyk on his toes, probing with jabs and foot feints. Usyk recovers and moves, but the heavier, eye-catching shots belong to Moorer. 10–9 Moorer (38–38) Round 5 Usyk uses angles brilliantly now, forcing Moorer to reset. His jab is controlling the round. Moorer lands one nice right hook but not enough. 10–9 Usyk (48–47 Usyk) Round 6 Moorer becomes more aggressive and lands a sneaky left to the body that hurts Usyk momentarily. He follows with two sharp jabs and another counter left. Usyk fires back late but loses the round. 10–9 Moorer (57–57) Round 7 Usyk’s conditioning kicks in. Higher work rate, snapping jabs, circling nonstop. Moorer visibly slows, his output drops. Moorer’s punches look heavier, but he can’t keep Usyk in place. Clear Usyk round. 10–9 Usyk (77–75 Usyk) Round 9 Moorer tries to rally, lands a big straight left—his best shot of the fight. Usyk eats it well and responds with a flurry. The rest of the round is close, but Moorer’s biggest shot of the fight steals it. 10–9 Moorer (86–85 Usyk) Round 10 Usyk dominates this round—pure footwork clinic. Moorer can’t cut the ring, and Usyk peppers him with quick combinations. Moorer lands almost nothing clean. 10–9 Usyk (96–94 Usyk) Round 11 Moorer digs deep, tries to slow Usyk with body work. Close, but Moorer edges it: 10–9 Moorer (105–104 Usyk) Round 12 Championship round: Usyk steps on the gas. His output overwhelms a fading Moorer—snappy jabs, left hands around the guard, constant movement. Moorer lands one good hook, but he’s outworked heavily. 10–9 Usyk --- FINAL SCORECARD (Realistic): Usyk 115–113 (Rounds: Usyk 7, Moorer 5) No knockdowns. RESULT: Oleksandr Usyk wins by unanimous decision. Breakdown: Usyk’s stamina, movement, and volume win the fight, but Moorer’s power and accuracy give him a handful of tough rounds. No blowout—this is a competitive, technical southpaw chess match.
