He's walked into a burning building so
I sympathise with him but don't see him having that thing he'd need to ride it. People around me in the crowd screaming for him to be sacked already which is inane but as he himself prosaicly said.... 'the situation is the situation.'

At 1-1 Celtic had them going. Once upon a time they'd have finished them off. Iheanacho getting pranged didn't help.

Yep. Well it will be interesting to see how it pans out. I cannot see anyone losing their job. Eventually the fans will simply have to buy their tormentors out. Hostile takeover. Stop going to the games, stop buying the merch, crash the share price and buy them up.

Didn't Sheffield Wednesday just do that? I haven't paid close attention but I heard the hated owner did GTFO but after he led them into administration.

I can't see any resolution to the ownership or, consequently, general 'that'll dae' ethos. We're the Desmonds plaything. The best hope is just some swing to relative competence within that - new ceo, lawwell to finally fuck off & DIE, new people to set up a recruitment structure. But not even that can happen until they can pretend it's happening independent of fan pressure

Like I said, literally, the thing has to be taken down from without.

It more or less happened at Liverpool albeit for totally different reasons........Hicks bought high, and then the bollox fell out of the World Market and his leveraged arse was left dangled over a hornets nest of very very busy Banking Bees with a particularly ornery Queen.

Next thing you know the word is being bandied about the Corpo World "Hicks is fucked, if certain guys, certain guys were to roll into town and throw a few quid at him, he will fold".

And thats what happened. Blind luck that a genuine sports guy who specialised in turning around down-on-their-luck "Franchises" happened to be around, but it was the market that ultimately lined it all up.

Prior to 2010 it was all "Spades in the Ground in a Month", Albert Speer style miniature stadia, etc.

The problem at Celtic is basically Roman style decadence. You need the Huns- literally and metaphorically- to come crashing in over the fucking walls.

I don't know but I do know they were in serious trouble as of very very recently. The thing is once a club is in administration the Administrators are under an obligation to consider all offers so they will basically be open to Micky Mack walking in there with his piggy bank and savings book. They've legally no option but to consider the offer.

I think it's different once it is in receivership.

I'm guessing the problem is just that celtic are so much smaller a part of Desmonds portfolio than LfC were of hicks. Owning Celtic is just like owning a few horses to the Desmonds, more a hobby than an investment. But aye, losing the league might drive him to clear house so Mon the jambos

it is a paradox........when Hodgson was at Liverpool you hoped for a win and you hoped they got spanked, simultaneously. Like a sick man. Death would be a release but you fight it all the way even though it means more of the same again.

    We're doomed!

If we lose tomorrow (every chance) the whole thing is gonna be, objectively, hilarious. And I'm kinda into it, if you're gonna have a crisis make it a good one.

9 minutes of injury time at Tottenham.

Tell me there's bets on these games without telling me there's bets on these games.

Oi Hut, really weird question came to mind. What would the reaction be if Guinness sponsored Rangers. (on the jerseys and so on)

British company and has been for years. Was only really Anglo-Irish in the first place. It would upset Rangers more cos they're fucking unaware and dopey.

Total bewilderment I think :Jest: Although as Irish says I think that companies modern branding as synonymous with Ireland disguises a more nuanced history!

After the lawwell cryfest/accusations the board have alleged three separate assaults/knife threats this week. No evidence presented on the assaults (despite happening outside CP, cameras galore), 'knife threat' turned out to be a photo of an empty hand with a cops belt behind it - both back page on scottish press. Sellik psyopps!

My favorite is always "death threats". No way to ascertain if they even happened let alone if they were credible. I could create an email account on some web site and send threats to myself. "I fear for my safety, i'm a poor victim!"

I get that but nobody thinks of Rolls Royce or Aston Martin as German or American cars.

I think the original owners were anglo-protestant and alot of the early production was in Belfast so if it hadn't 'globalised' the associations would be way more mixed I think

Ideally Celtic play football like that for the rest of the season, Hearts wins the league anyway, Desmond checks his texts in May, sees what's happened, raises his big Joseph Fritzal eyesbrows high and sacks the whole board
