I'm a cholo, , okay. David Lemieux can punch like a mule kick, but would I have picked him to beat Benavidez? See, I can acknowledge a guy punches hard without going overboard unlike you.
You're severely overrating my fandom of Shakur. I think he's a talented fighter, but I don't care for him much beyond that. I've never once considered him "generational" in the mold of say, Mayweather, Whitaker, or Pac. However, I'm not ready to write him off after just one dud of a performance. He's still one of the best fighters in the world.
Yeah same, not to barge in to the debate or anything, but Shakur is obviously really good. It was an atrocious performance last time out but every boxer is allowed one. I still wouldn't pick many guys to beat him.
I can appreciate that. He is talented and so is Morrell. My only objection is I don't see Morrell being ready for Benevidez. His trainer already turned down a fight with him
Stevenson has received more acclaim and praise than pacquaio did through the first 6 years of their careers
Got beat by Benavidez but still put on an admirable effort. Showed lot of heart and toughness. He’ll be back.
News: Callum Smith will defend WBO interim light heavyweight title vs. David Morrell in a Liverpool, England, homecoming fight April 18 on DAZN, @MatchroomBoxing announced. #boxing #SmithMorrell
I don't think I can ever forgive Callum Smith for the Canelo performance. I genuinely thought he'd have too much pride and self-respect to go in with the typical Joe Gallagher "cover up and do nothing against an elite fighter" bullshit gameplan, but no.
He Pulled Out???...REED Was Gonna Put Some Coin on Smith to Upset Morrell Too, Who Looked Like Stir-Fried SHIT In His Most Recent Fight... REED
Strange downfall as he gave a very good account of himself in the Benavidez loss. Everything seemed to point to him still having a bright future. And yet, he looked like shit in the fight following the Benavidez loss, and now he gets stopped by a journeyman. Weird shit, but some guys just never get "it" back after taking their first L, and it seems Morrell is one of those guys.
The thing is that he was STILL systematically out boxing the guy. Chelli isn't even a PUNCHER. He'll lose to Callum Shit. I mean he's got a terrible record. He's like a 60% KO ratio against bums....hes never won a BRITISH title. And all he had to do was wing a right hander in from a foreign zip code an Morrell was in la-la land.
Morrell was winning easily…but it looked like he was going thru the motions….when hurt he didn’t know how to clinch or cover his chin….
That was quite a stunning upset, just as shocking as when Munguia lost to Surace. I’m curious how Morell will bounce back from this.
Color me wrong about Morrell. I thought he could be right up there with Bam, Boots, and Shakur. Instead he's just the Cuban Bute.
Not to shit on your post, because overall I totally agree, Chelli is as domestic class as it gets, but he did actually win the British (and Commonwealth) titles I believe.
As someone who is half-Burmese I'll support anyone doing well from the motherland, even though I have zero interest in MMA. I'd like to see a Burmese boxer come through, but they tend to just go into Lethwei and then branch out into Muay Thai or MMA if they're any good, rather than traditional boxing.
