I see that the English are getting their first taste of a spygate.

US sports already had a major spygate in 2017 when Major League Baseball team Houston Astros did some egregious spying shit all season long -- and their punishment wasnt nearly as harsh as Southampton's.

Anyway, who goes up on Sat -- Hull or Boro?

 

That was one of the best days of my life. I'll cry if we win the CL also. I have been in disbelief the last few days. You imagine it but it's even better that you thought when you do win it.

 

It's weird that spying wasn't actually an offence until a few years ago when Leeds were caught doing it. Mental that a club would then throw potential-promotion away after the line has very clearly been drawn in the sand following that incident.

As for the match itself, I would much rather 'Boro. Always hated Hull, both fans and club, nasty lot who have come to QPR many a time spouting some vile shit. Never had any issue with 'Boro, knew one fan of theirs and he was alright, so gotta root for them.

 

As a neutral, I'm rooting for Boro also.

One of the biggest dickheads I ever met in England was a Hull fan in Hounslow. I celebrated Hull getting relegated that season and will be cheering for Boro on Saturday. Fuck that fool eleven years later.

 

I haven't read about it yet but with baseball and the NFL i guess there are some things that one can get an advantage from such tactics. Those games come down to a series of set plays.

It would be like if football was boiled down to only free/corner/penalty kicks. When the margins are slim that extra info could be decisive.

 

Exactly what Whiskey said. In American football and baseball, spying can actually give the opposing team a HUGE tactical advantage.

In world football and basketball, I think less so.

 

I think sports spying in general is really fucking lazy in 2026.

I could understand it if was 1970 and you had less material on the opposing team to analyze.

With all the video footage at everyone's disposal in the modern era its like... you're a cheat AND you're fuckin lazy.

 

Talking about Hull fans had me curious: Which club in England outside of the big 6 has the most insufferable fanbase?

 

Millwall are definitely right up there, if not number one. I hate them, but I do have a begrudging respect for them too for being a proper community club, even if it's a community of cunts.

Millwall are the Oakland/LA/Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders of English football.

 

I don't know anything about Millwall but with that comparison it reminds me of of people who would wear Raiders hats/shirts because of the logo and colors. It's "badass". Same people who didn't drink or know anything about motorcycles but would wear
a Harley Davidson or Jack Daniels shirt.

 

Philly Eagles have far and away the most insufferable fans in the NFL, so maybe that's a more accurate comparison.
