Kobe was a HUGE footy fan.

Hakeem Olajuwon is another NBA legend who claimed soccer helped his footwork.

Olajuwon would've been the most dominant goalie ever!

Athletes tend to excel in the sports they were meant to be in. I'm glad he didnt become a keeper; we wouldn't have gotten to see him break his foot off in the Sadmiral's ass.

Steve Nash was apparently a pretty good player too and maybe if he chose a different path ... blah blah.

I'm sure there are plenty of football (soccer) players that were quite good at other sports too, doesn't mean they could've automatically become pros at them, let alone elite ones. Raw athleticism has a limit to its transferability.

Robinson was an Admiral. Hakeem was a General Admiral.

If I heard correctly in the past, I think Wayne Rooney wanted to be a boxer. Doesn't mean he would have been Ricky Hatton.

you'd have to imagine kyrie irving could cook muthafuckas on a soccer field if he could move as fluidly kicking a ball as he does dribbling one

We'll never know. Its like saying that Neymar could be an elite point guard if he could dribble a basketball the way he can a football.

I'll be extremely honest -- trying to dribble a soccer ball is a FUCCCKKKK of a lot harder!

A person's hands are naturally more coordinated than their feet.

You can teach any scrub to dribble a basketball halfway decent in a few hours.

It would take me YEARS to be able to dribble a football on even a bad level.

Forget about other sports for a second. Maybe the fast food industry can sponsor some lard ass into getting so obese they can fill up the enter net. Just crane them into the goal and the opposing team can't score. FIFA will eventually change the rules but it gets a WC in the mean time.

Yep. Naturally people are simply just much better with their hands than their feet at manipulating things.

Dribbling a basketball at Kyrie Irving level does take an absurd level of footwork in its right, but yeah... what a Messi/Neymar/Hazard does with the ball is far more difficult.

Just watched the highlights: Ghana look to have a bunch of players out there who might as well be LeBron or Kobe for all the skill with a football they have

I think S.Korea will either edge out Mexico or a draw. But my prediction skills suck so watch it be 5-0 Mexico.

The Mexicans can win today if they play the right way. If they don't it will be a close game and South Korea might edge it. Could be a draw. Both teams best guys need to play well, but a goal can come from anybody so don't be surprised.

Murica style Christians not sure what to make of the Swiss flag.

    Cross = Christianity = good

Cross+Red = Red Cross = helping people in need = bad

    Canada plays against Qatar later.

Being Canadian i would normally root for them, but i've had some second thoughts. Qatar offers so much to the world. A country filled with hard working honest and passionate people. Easily the best World Cup host in history. I think this is a great opportunity for every nation to come TOGETHER and cheer for only one.

    The glorious Qatar.

    Oi X,

The last time a host country had a player with a hat trick was Geoff Hurst. True or False?
