Actually his chin is decent...considering all the sharp/clean punches he got hit with in that first round.
ROUND 3 was EPIC....both seriously hurt...BOOTS hurt for most of the ROUND wobbling/holding on.... Zayas mighta missed his shot for the UPSET...
BOMBS away....from both these fuckers....BOots look sharper...but he still get hurt every now and then....
Turned out to be a helluva scrap. Boots just on another level but Zayas put up a good fight before succumbing to his power. Now is the time to finally see Boots against Ortiz or Fundora next. Those two can really test him.
Ortiz will hopefully it happens next…before the end of the year. Fundora will get it worse than Xander…
I watched the full highlights. Three head-to-head predictions: 1. I would worry about Boots against Vergil. But Vergil's prime is probably gone due to inactivity and promotional problems just like Mikey Garcia's prime. 2. Boots-Fundora would be a great action fight, but Boots would light Fundora up in the end. 3. Bud is his prime would have kicked the living shit outta Boots.
WorldStar Hip Hop / WSHH on Instagram: "#BootsEnnis stops #XanderZayas in the 7th round to become the new Unified WBA/WBO Super Welterweight Champion. The dominant victory also earned Boots a massive $10 million bonus from the Rainbet sponsored DAZN event.. "
I really am worried about Boots' chin and leaky defense against Vergil. I like Boots more outta the two, but I gotta be objective. Had the fight not gotten scrapped by Golden Bitch, I gotta say that Ortiz probably would have won by stoppage. Ortiz aint perfect either, but its just in Boots Philly DNA to war, and I dont think he can win a war with Vergil if he's getting rocked badly by Xander.
The main thing is -- we need to forever put to bed the notion of Boots competing with Crawford. Could he be competitive now? Yes, Bud is an old man and Boots is 29. Crawford at 29 would fuckin destroy Boots. It'd be a massacre. That much is VERY CLEAR.
yea, i dont see that at all. crawford is never having an easy fight with ennis. i agree crawford at 29 would win. especially since ennis was 19 or 20
You know exactly what I meant. Boots right now versus Crawford at 29. I'll have to disagree with you. I think prime Crawford would put Boots away before the late rounds. Bud in his prime is just better at everything. EVERYTHING. Raw handspeed might be pretty close, but Bud's brain processes 50x faster than Boots' brain, so Boots has no edge there.
Id take ennis if they fought in the last 3 years when it seemed possible. It would be competitive either way and crawford knew it
A better question is probably Boots now versus prime Spence. I would take Ennis. I think he's too fast and powerful for any version of Spence, but... if prime Spence got Boots hurt all bets would be off. Young Spence was a good finisher. Still, I'd say Boots by stoppage over Spence in a war.
It would be interesting to see what alvarez honestly thinks who woulda won if crawford and ennis fought now or last year
you mean future 3 division champion Lopez? once he disposes of romero and parro that will make him unified in ANOTHER division
Crawford is a weird beast - there aren't many natural orthodox fighters who were trained to or mainly fight southpaw. Bud is a fuckin weird robot in that way - his right hand is so devastating it's not funny and his switch hitting is more natural than most switchers. Spence found out the hard way. Bud's not just a switch hitter, he's an orthodox southpaw who can switch hit. Big difference in fight mechanics there. So yeah, Boots as an orthodox righty switch hitter with 50% of bud's defensive brain and only some of his crazy robot weirness would get eliminated eventually, young or old.
