And the knock-outs begin! South Africa vs Canada later today.

I'm gonna say Canada barely, but a South African upset wouldn't be at all surprising. Canada is easily the weakest of the three North American host teams.

Regardless of who wins today, they have to play the winner of Morocco-Netherlands. So yeah, Canada and SA will be out pretty soon.

Back to England, if England takes care of business against Congo and Mexico gets past Ecuador, then its England vs Mexico in the rd of 16.

I dunnooooo England... Mexico is very live to pull that off.

Yep. If it's Morocco I'm thinking South Africa might stand a better chances as they might be more familiar with with them?

Unless Paraguay and/or Sweden pull MASSIVE upsets, its France-Germany next Saturday, 4th of July in the States. Thats gonna be the most action on Independence Day since Will Smith saved the world from aliens.

Netherlands-Morocco, Brazil-Japan, and Mexico-Ecuador are by far the three best games of the rd of 32. All the other games have clear favorites. Two of these games are 50-50. I wouldnt consider Brazil-Japan 50-50; Brazil is more likely to win, but Japan is extremely live.

May the power of Super Mario Lemieux bless the Canadian team today.

Both Canada & SA looked totally underwhelming in the first half.

Winner of Netherlands-Morocco has an EASY ride to the quarters.

Yes, this has been poor. South Africa now time wasting. Canada more positive. But it could go either way. The quality really isn't there tbh.

Very poor quality. The only question for the winner in the round of 16 is how many goals they lose by.

The Dutch would beat these clowns 4-0 or 5-0.

Canada break-through in the final minutes to win it. Deservedly so, they have been the better side, but yeah, this is as far as they'll go.

Very negative display by South Africa. Cautious. It's always better to see positivity rewarded.

Canada vs Dutch/Morocco on July 4th in Houston..

Canada's the only one of the three hosts with zero chance to make the quarters.

We have a shot of beating Bosnia & Belgium.

Mexico has a shot of beating Ecuador & England.

Canada has no chance next week.

They definitely are. They look a good side. It would be an awesome spectacle at the Azteca.

I don't think they really needed it today, but to get past the next round they will need more than the powerful blessing of Lemieux.

Perhaps Steve Nash as the playmaker.

Or.... Lennox Lewis to beat up everyone on Morocco/Netherlands.

Something even easier. Find "visa problems" with the majority of visiting players and coaching staff.

Not even a conspiracy theory to say that Argentina has been handed a cakewalk to the quarters.

Cape Verde and Egypt both have zero chance. If everything pans out without upsets, they would meet Colombia in the quarters. Colombia would be their first threat of the tournament.

They're a tough side but they just arent on the skill level to beat an England --- yet. If African football keeps progressing, they can get there one day, but not yet.

I'm expecting England to be sharper versus Congo than they were Panama.

Lewandowski coming to Chicago Fire. Makes a lot of sense. Chicago has the biggest Polish contingency in the US.

Alright, the REAL knockouts begin. Canada & South Africa are bums so they dont count.

    Today I got:

Brazil edging past Japan in a close one.

    Germany beating Paraguay comfortably.

Netherlands beating Morocco in a pen shootout.
