He was loading up on EVERYTHING, he has the ability to land clean and often without throwing everything 100%. Rookie error, I'm confident he'll learn from it. One of those things that happens.
The Lennox Lewis of our times…..someone needs to tell n teach that young bull… just because you see an opening n can land it…don’t mean you have to throw it every time. Pace yourself….
Pretty much went how I thought it would until Itauma just blew his load trying to impress the crowd against a much wilier opponent a la Wlad vs Puritty or Jefferson vs Izon..... I felt Hrgo would lie down after a few more rounds but he sensed Itauma was fading and applied himself. Itauma should win a rematch. His chin wasn't dented, he'd been in control. Not a good look but it's more Haye vs Thompson than Khan vs Prescotf
Wouldn't Surprise REED @ All if the IBF Mandated an Immediate RE Since the Coronation was Spoiled.... REED
I'd still pick Itauma to win a rematch tbh, he was winning every round, but it might be good for him to just rebuild a little (against good top 10 fighters obviously, not cans) and not rush straight back into the fire. He's got plenty of years ahead of him.
Just for the record.... Hrgovic own punches played a major part in Itauma getting tired too. Not just Itauma being slap happy.
They can if they want but the British Boxing Board won't allow Itauma to fight again for at least 3 months, plus he turned his knee pretty badly plus he'll rebuild with soft-touches.
If he wasn't so knockout happy, he still could have won every round with 70 percent of the punch output and won easily. Even Tyson didn't load up like that on nearly every shot.
Trying to impress the dick heads in the audience, who rewarded him by starting their own fucking fight after a few rounds.
Itauma lost because he ran out of gas. He proved to have a good chin but he needs to work on conditioning. He needs to train like Holyfield or Usyk.
Itauma does need a new trainer though. Ben Davison just isn't the guy to help guide him back and to the next level.
He's the best towel-thrower in the game. I think they should keep him on just in case he's needed again in that capacity. He might be the Tom Brady of towel-throwing.
AJ, Fury, Josh Taylor all split from Davison. Perhaps there's something telling in that. I do have a concern with Itauma and his stamina going forward and how he seems to gas fairy easily. When he's aggressive and let's his hands go, he then tends to look very tired; breathing heavily with his mouth open. He goes back to his corner and sits on his stool and you can clearly see him struggling for breath. Happened early on and throughout last night and even in previous fights (Franklin in particular when he said to his corner the pace was too much and he sounded concerned). Maybe there's an underlying condition. Maybe not. Holyfield had an underlying condition that caused severe fatigue.
