This Saturday May 17<SUP>th</SUP> HBO’s Boxing After Dark will televise a triple header featuring three of the most exciting young fighters in boxing—James Kirkland, Alfredo Angulo, and Yuriorkis Gamboa. Last week Jr. Middleweight slugger Alfredo “El Perro” Angulo was a guest on Toe-2-Toe, the FightBeat Radio Show. Angulo will be the co-featured attraction of the evening and will be taking on the rugged Richard Gutierrez. Good interview. Nice that he gave long answers and elaborated on some points. I like that he was honest about the area he needs to work on. I'm very excited about seeing him progress.
I had no idea that the Cubans didn't get to see pro boxing. That's friggin' amazing. Cuba must suck if for only that reason alone. At least you get a bike if you win the olympics...
I didn't think Gamboa came across as overly cocky in the interview, but he sure does when i've seen him interviewed on tv. Maybe it's just having decubas translate because that guy (and I like him) is a cocky sob. Gamboa is a freak talent and he'll have people loving him and people who can't wait to see him lose. I'll take villain, but I would rather see him become super popular because he's got a pleasant, product-friendly personality. Wishful thinking, I know. . As far as the hands low stuff. I say do what you do. It's a lot harder to move your head when your gloves are blocking your view. It's a lot harder to counter when your hands start high. But i could be wrong...
I agree. Alot of guys with their hands up move them down to punch and have no head movement. Gamboa is like the Prince when he used that style. Gamboa appears to have better balance then the Prince did IMO.
