I don't like Gamboa much, but it can't be denied, he is very good.

I'd pick him to beat trashKhan tomorrow.

However, although I think he'll be a titleholder, I don't think he'll be an elite fighter.

At the very highest level I think his defense, chin and power shall be found wanting.

Angulo actually has power, unlike the school boy fraud.

Mex, I think we agree on this.

After being fed a gazillion highlights and hearing so much about this kid, I was eager to see him perform last night. Gamboa's pretty good but the hype was a bit much. I would've been more impressed if I hadn't heard so much prior. Very few people get away with that kind of style - he may not be able to pull it off against better comp.

Please, he was stunned by a fringe contender (at best), last night. Margarito would have taken care of business last night, and not let him off the hook. Margarito is a very good finisher.

    agREED...

REED has Actually SEEN Gamboa a FEW Times (1nce or Twice as a PRO & ALL of his 2004 Olympic Bouts) & was AMAZED @ the Level of HYPE he Got...

Dude is VERY Talented, but Peeps Treated him like a SURE THING After LESS than 10 Fights....

Like REED Said on Another Thread, let's CURB the ENTHUSIASM a Bit, as it Pertains to Gamboa...

    He'll B Good EVENTUALLY...But Right Now he's a Work N Progress...He Certainly SHOULDN'T have Been Showcased AHEAD of Kirkland & Angulo, that's for Sure...

Its possible brother REED. I was trying to give Marga the benefit of the doubt cause he's beaten better fighters, but Ramirez is no bum, and Angulo pretty much destroyed him. I dunno if I would pick him over Tony right now, but I'd pick him over Tony after Cotto is done beating the living bejesus outta Tony.

Right now I'd like to see Angulo(or Kirkland) fight Joel Julio. Either one of them would fuck Julio up!

How Many LOSSES Does Angulo Have???...How Many LOSSES Does Margarita have???...

    Anymore Questions???...

Angulo would BEAT Daniel Santos RIGHT NOW, that's 4 Sure...& that's MORE than Margarita can Say...

Margarita is RELUCTANT to Fight Guys HIS OWN Size...He's an OVERSIZED Welter who SUCKS @ Jr. Middle...Angulo would DEVOUR him...

So? It wasnt too along ago when Phony was given a tough fight and stunned by bum ass Sebastian Lujan. And that was a few years ago when Phony was younger, and fresher.

Getting hurt isnt the end of the world, its how you RECOVER that matters. And Angulo recovered very well, and quickly.

Brother Reed, why do you hate Tony so much? It's like the infatuation Roy haters had with Roy where they just prayed, hoping and waiting for him to get beat. And when it finally happened, they crowed "I told you so!"

This kid is nowhere near Margarito.

My point was, that if Angulo was hurt by a decent fighter, he surely would have been hurt bya top level fighter Margarito, but Margarito would have finished the job. Thus, Angulo is not better than Margarito right now.

I never said that getting hurt is the end of the world.

Your's and REED'S arguments are really weak, so let's just drop it.

REED Wonders the SAME about Cats like U, Brother DAZED...Margarita is EXTREMELY AVERAGE as a Fighter...

Yet there's this PERCEPTION that he's "Owed" Something OR That he's a "Killer" of Some Sort...

Sorry, but he's NONE of the Above...Ask Paul Williams...Ask Daniel Santos...

NEITHER of those Guys R World Beaters Either, yet they BOTH Have RECENT Wins Over Margarita...

REED "Hates" Margarita Cause he's a Pugilistic COCKROACH...There's ALWAYS Somebody Out There BUYING INTO the Hype Surrounding him, even Though it's UNwarranted...

So Because Margarita May or MAY NOT have Finished a HURT Angulo, that AUTOMATICALLY Makes Margarita BETTER???:dunno:

What if Margarita NEVER HURTS Angulo???...YOUR Arguement is even WEAKER than U Claim X or REED's to B, Gatti...WORSE, U OVERLOOK THE FACT that Floyd Made MORE Money to Face Baldomir, yet U PERSIST N CLINGING to the Notion of Floyd "Ducking" Margarita:rolleyes:....

    How Convenient...

AND, U're COMPLETELY OVERLOOKING the FACT that Margarita is an OVERSIZED Welter who's RELUCTANT To Fight @ his TRUE Weight...Why???...Cause of Daniel Santos...

Keep NUTHUGGING Margarita & AFTER Cotto WAXES him, Remember Who TOLD U He was CRAP All Along...

Then it'll be Kauki's birthday and death day, cause he'll surely be leaping outta the nearest window after Cotto is done wiping his ass with Phony.

    That's amazing

Incidentally, I had absolutely no idea he was 27. He's so small and fairly young looking, I figured he was like 21 or so.

So that means 2 things, we'll find out how good he is sooner rather than later as he doesn't have much time to take his career slowly, and also, his defense is unlikely to get dramatically better.

i feel paper mache is a bit of an exaggeration. He can be rattled but Santos knows how to survive, how to grind out and fight through the rough patches. i still don't believe the jantuah fight should have been stopped. other than that santos has had a pretty respectable career, robbed vs. kotiev (avenged) and there was no shame in his loss to dzinziruk - also a very good fighter.

santos' combination of southpaw style, range, handspeed, underrated power and and combination punching would be too much for angulo certainly at this stage of angulo's career. angulo looks impressive, explozive and exciting - certainly last night and most definitely against the right opponent. it's easy to look at him and say that he would beat santos, just like so many said margarita would

it's not that easy - certainly not against santos, who has an awkward, difficult style. angulo was hurt last night and i could see santos hurting him bad and being able to finish him much more adeptly than last night's opponent. i would take santos by wide 12 round decision

Daniel Santos is overrated as hell! I can recall him being given a tough fight, and stunned by old man Yory Boy.

Angulo would smash Santos inside of 6 rounds.

How can you compare the loss record of a guy with 13 pro fights, and a guy with like 40 fights? It's ridiculous.
