“The amount of talent and fights we put on are second to none. Think about it, the CBS fight that they are coming up with, who gives a crap about Kimbo Slice? This guy can’t fight MMA. You know what would happen if he fought in the UFC? I’d put him in against (lightweight champion) BJ Penn and (Slice) would get annihilated. The guy he is fighting, James Thompson, might get knocked out before he gets into the cage. Kimbo has no credibility at all in MMA. … I am telling you, BJ Penn would beat him.”

OK make this fight happen Dana. I would love to see Kimbo KTFO BJ Penn now.

What did he say that wasn't true? BJ is world class, and I would pick him to beat Kimbo if they fought today. What has Kimbo done in the world of MMA? Nothing. James Thompson has possibly the worst chin ever.

Penn-Kimbo is a very simple fight. If Penn gets it to the ground he wins. With the ridiculous size differential I am not sure he could get the fight there. Kimbo is to big for Penn to stand with.

randy couture has rolled with penn and said penn is a tough mfer and was hard to take down

id prolly pick penn over kimbo

You guys are delusional.. Kimbo is far too big and strikes far too well to lose to BJ Penn. Seriously, there is almost 100 pound difference here.

These aren't the days of Royce Gracie shocking dudes with submissions and negating size advantages. Kimbo would know full well the only way Penn could win the fight.

If they stepped in the ring tomorrow, Kimbo knocks Penn out within the first 3 minutes.

But lets be honest about White's comments specifically. No matter who you think wins, does anyone really think a 155 pound Penn would annhilate Kimbo? Kimbo isn't a top flight MMA guy, but he also isn't a punk. He would hold his own and likely beat any 155 pound guy in the world.

It's CLEAR that Dana White is THREATENED by Elite XC & Kimbo Slice's Popularity...

When U're the TOP DOG N Any Realm, U DON'T SWEAT the Guys Under U...U NEVER Heard Michael Jordan Referencing the 2nd or 3rd Best Players N the League...

McDonald's NEVER References Other Burger Joints...ESPN NEVER References The Fox Sports Network...

The Mere Fact that Dana White CONTINUES to Speak about Other Organizations Shows how THREATENED he Is by them...

Sure Penn is tough to take down but Kimbo wouldn't want to take him down in the first place. :dunno:

You are dead on.. The bottom line is that White can bad mouth Kimbo all he wants, but I don't know that there is a bigger HW attraction in all of MMA to the general fan than Slice.

And before anyone jumps on me, I don't the numbers or who sells the most tickets. All I know is Kimbo is on the tip of everyone's tongue. And after he puts up a highlight reel KO on network TV on May 31st, he will be even bigger.

That just has to kill White because he doesn't have a HW with near the star power.

Guys like GSP or Anderson Silva would Beat Kimbo, but REED Thinks BJ is Tooooooooo SMALL...

It's NOT Like Kimbo CAN'T Fight a Lick, Fellas...He's Got UNDERRATED Punching Technique & All it would Take is ONE Shot to WRECK BJ's World...

    @ SOME Point, Size Matters...

Brock Lesnar had the CHANCE to B, but Frank Mir Exposed him:lol:...

N HINDSIGHT, Dana Shouldn't have Made that Fight Sooooooo SOON...If he had MILKED Lesnar a Bit Looooooonger, he Could B as "Big" as Kimbo is Right Now...

Don't forget, when Penn fought Machida, he fought at 205. He cuts a lot of weight to fight at 155. All he'd have to do is whether Kimbo's initial onslaught, gas him out, and he'd be easy pickings.

i wouldnt say lesnar was exposed, more like he was thrown in with a guy that had way more experience in his 1st big fight

lesnar could still be a big draw

speaking of wrestlers doing mma, i heard bobby lashley was training for mma

Reed was right though. They should have picked Lesnar's opponents more carefully so early on. To match him against a submission guy like Mir was stupid. You won't see Shaw accidentally putting Kimbo in with a guy like Mir.

    oh i agree, terrible matchmaking

though i wouldnt call it an "exposing"

Actually, putting Lesnar in with Mir in his 2nd pro fight may be the best thing to happen to Lesnar, as now he knows he can't just rely on his brute strength and wrestling background to succeed. Now he know he has to learn all the aspects of MMA.

Had they put him in there with the likes of Tank Abbott, Eddie Sanchez, James Thompson, etc, he would've just steamrolled over them, building to a megafight against a top name, 'then' he would've been exposed, and that would've been a hard loss to come back from.

That's because it's much easier to reel off 10-12 wins in a row in boxing then MMA. You don't see too many 20-0 fighters in MMA, but you'll see a bunch in boxing.

And your post is ironic, since the UFC can do no right in your eyes.

"Exposed" was a Bit Harsh, but there's Not Really a POSITIVE Spin to Put on the Loss Either...

Frank Mir ISN'T What he Used to B & he ISN'T an Elite Heavyweight Anymore, if REED's Not Mistaken...

Plus, a Guy like Brock Being FORCED N 2 Quitting has to Affect him Mentally...His Rock Hard, Indestructable Mystique was SQASHED by a Pudgy, Smaller Man Coming Off of an Injury...

Granted, Mir is a Submission ARTIST, but Still...

It may help the develoment of Lesnar as an MMA fighter, but it absolutely destroys his immediate marketing strength.

Gary Shaw is parlaying Kimbo's 'You Tube' craze into an MMA marketing coup. Lesnar had the same chance by exploiting his WWE popularity. The 1st round loss to Mir absolutely crushed that.

Again, in the long run, Lesnar might have the better MMA career, and potentially develop into the better fighter, but he won't be the draw that Kimbo is for quite some time.

    It sucks when we agree.

  26. TFK

TFK WBC Silver Diamond Emeritus Champ

I disagree. I think Lesnar can easily come back from his loss to Mir, and be a huge draw for years to come if he continues to improve. Whereas a loss say a year from now would be devastating.

If Lesnar was ever gonna lose, it was in the UFC's best interests to have him lose while he still has the 'inexperience' excuse.

But on the FLIPSIDE, he Could've Built his REP on those Lesser Guys, while Taking his Beatings N TRAINING, as Kimbo is Doing...

There's NO Guarantee that Lesnar WON'T B CRUSHED Mentally, After Losing Sooooooooo EARLY N the Game...

REED Thinks it Just MIGHT B Better to Get a FEW Wins Under your Belt PRIOR to Losing...It's EASIER to Reconcile a Loss AFTER U've Won a Few, than it is to Lose DECISIVELY when U've just BEGUN...

  29. Trplsec

    Trplsec Sleeps in a Cage

You make sound points, but you can't honestly think that Lesnar is as big a draw now as he was prior to the Mir fight, can you?

Meanwhile, despite beating corpses, each win by Kimbo makes him that much bigger a draw. And when he destroys Thompson in 30-40 seconds on network TV, it won't even be close.

  30. TFK

TFK WBC Silver Diamond Emeritus Champ

You may be right. But I think the loss to Mir will benefit Lesnar, since he now knows that he just can't rely on his strength and wrestling. Had he steamrolled over a bunch of cans, he probably wouldn't have worked to improve his game as much.
