I gotta Quintana winning yet another 8-4 decision. Honestly, reading Paul Williams' interviews... the dude dont seem too bright. It seems he's a broken record when it comes to the first fight, staying non-stop "I just couldnt get into rhythm". Well duh! Genius! I just think Quintana is the more skilled, intelligent fighter and will win again.

Quintana 8 rounds to 4, in a fight that looks very much like the first one.

1st of all, Picking Quintana by KO is WISHFUL Thinking...Quintana has RESPECTABLE Power but he ISN'T a Banger:nono:...& Paul Williams has a GOOD, Borderline GREAT Chin...

If Quintana was CAPABLE of KO'ing Williams he'd have Done it N the 1st Fight...

But Having Said that, REED Expects Quintana 2 1nce Again OUTBOX Williams Fairly Convincingly...Slightly CLOSER Decision w/Williams Saying he Got Robbed when he Really DIDN'T...

It's going to be a close one I think. I think Quintana fought a great fight the first time and I think Williams has room to improve. I expect a tough fight and I will go out on a limb and say Williams regains his belt by close decision.

I may be in the minority but I think that the beating Williams got will affect him both physically and psychologically. He really got owned in that fight. The only rounds he won were the ones Quintana took off.

Outside of Williams having an off-night the first time around, it's hard to see how he wins this fight.

There's so many areas he can, and needs, to improve and there's little way of knowing if he has in the period between fights.

Chances are he needs more than a few months to make really dramatic changes.

he doesn't need dramatic changes to win. it was a close fight, and Williams was never hurt.

the only X-factor is whether or not Quintana will get away with holding Williams on the inside like he did in the first fight. That's basically how he managed to win - by stinking it out.

I can't believe some people are predicting a knock-out win by Quintana. :atu:

It was a close fight only because Quintana couldn't keep up his pace for 12 full rounds.

It's not like they were alternating rounds like DLH-Vargas or something.

Why are you obsessed with supposed "stink"?

  20. Double L

    Double L Book Reader

obsessed with it? isn't the better question to ask, "why do so many fighters get away with winning fights using stink?"

i think my alleged obsession with stink is just a reflection of the fact that so many fighters rely on it on a consistent basis to win fights. but in most cases, it's not legal, and nor is it impressive or even meaningful in my mind when a fighter wins by way of stink.

are you telling me Hatton didn't "stink" against Lazcano? or that Rahman doesn't "stink" in every fight he's in? or that Sergio Mora isn't a horrible stink-fighter and unbearable to watch? Or that Paulie didn't stink like shit against N'dou (a fight I thought he lost by the way)?

if i seem obsessed, it's because so many of the sport's supposed best fighters get the job done with stink. it shouldn't be allowed.

Williams didn't know how to cut off the ring after 30+ professional fights and isn't gonna learn how to in 4 months time. I say Quintana beats that ass again. More than likely by UD, but I wouldn't rule out a TKO. I think Quintana would have a good chance at stopping Paul on accumlation if he can regain the conditioning he had for the Julio fight. Dude fought outside in 100+ degree heat and at a pretty steady pace for the duration of the fight. Against Paul, he seemed to hit a wall around the half way mark, and began fighting in spurts. I agree with the poster who said the only rounds Paul won were the ones Quintana took off.

Quintana's victory last time out was pretty decisive. You have to favor him to beat Williams.

Quintana will probably just look to fight the same fight. I mean, why wouldn't he?

It will be interesting to see what Williams brings to the table this time.

BS perspectives? What the fuck are you on about?

Quintana schooled Williams, and you think Williams not only wins but "wins easy"?

How exactly? What's he going to do to make such a dramatic difference to the first fight? Bring a chainsaw?

    You're a troll.

  25. Double L

    Double L Book Reader

and your perspective on things is clearly B.S. if you think Quintana "schooled" Williams. that's a ridiculous exaggeration, probably crafted in order to accommodate your black and white simplistic thought process.

He won 8 rounds to 4, and for most of those rounds outboxed Williams without breaking a sweat. It was a schooling, not a whitewash, but a schooling.

So tell me, why do you feel Williams beats Quintana easily in the rematch, when he didn't come close to doing that in the first fight? What's going to change?

  28. Xplosive

    Xplosive X-MOD Bad Motherfucker

Hatton indeed does use stink, not thats not how Quintana beat Williams. He beat Paul by lander BY FAR the cleaner shots, and by controlling the pace of the fight. Did he do some holding on the inside? Yeah, but thats part of the game. But it wasnt excessive at all. Quintana should in NO WAY be compared to Hatton.

Williams is the firm betting favourite, so the people that know enough about the game to bet on this fight, are lined closer with Double L than any of the other "non-trolls".....so get a grip.

  30. mexican wedding shirt

Yep, and these same bookies had Tito and Hamed as 4 to 1 favourites over Hopkins and Barrera, when I was 99% sure Nard and Barrera would prevail. So get a grip yourself :kidcool:

I have to say I am very, very surprised about the bookies on this though. I have no idea what their reasoning is. It's not like Williams was ill, or missing a limb etc. It was the same williams, quintana just had the style and the skill to beat him clearly.

I can't recall the last time a fighter lost a fight so decisively, to be made a favourite in the rematch.
