Now Money is retired or at least not fighting anytime soon Cotto and Williams are 1 and 2 at 147.

Lets see if everybody here holds Cotto to the same standard they held Mayweather when he was in no rush to fight Cotto.

He's 1 and 1 against Quintana, who was borderline top 5 (probably being generous in that statement) prior to the first Williams fight.

    I wouldn't say there's not a mandate yet.

Can't we just wait until after the Margarito fight to talk about this? I mean, Margarito can pull an upset.:dunno:

I'm pretty sure Quintana has a rematch clause. I think there should be a 3rd fight to see if the first or second fight was a fluke.

Williams beat the guy who Cotto is fighting on July 26. He is clealry the number 2 fighter behind Cotto.

I would say based upon that there is a mandate.

I hope he has a rematch clause.

If Quintana wants a rubber match he deserves it.

They've had about as contrasting wins as you can get, so a third is definitely warranted.

There is no clear #2. There may however, be one come next month.

Cotto would beat the living hell out of Paul Williams.

Why do you think that? The reason Williams got tonights fight was from a rematch clause from the first time they fought. I would be surprised if Quintana has a rematch clause based on that.

I wouldnt mind seeing Paul fight the Clottey-Judah winner either. Or Berto.

I think he'd be WAY too much for Andre though. I'm not even sure I'd pick Berto over Zab.

Ok this is who is in the 147 division right now.
Williams, Cotto, Quintana, Clottey, Judah, Mosley, Collazo, Margarito, Berto, Estrada, Cintron, Bonsu.

Apart from Cotto i don't see who can be ranked ahead of Williams right now from that list.

I don't think Quintana can win after this. When he won, he had no fear. I think he has a lot to be scared of now.

I dont think a rubber match is needed when a guy scores a convincing first round KO. I didnt think the first fight was a fluke, but Paul simply proved ALOT of people wrong tonight(including me) and proved that it was.

In the first seconds of the fight it was apparent that he came out with alot more fire in his eyes than in Feburary.

I think Quintana should fight Cintron. Thats an interesting fight.

I rank Margarito ahead of Williams and have absolutely no qualm in doing so, because I believe Margarito won their fight, not to mention he has beaten better fighters than Williams has.

Paul needs to have a rubber match with Quintana before being pushed further.

With your welterweight appraisal skills, I don't believe you should be laughing at anybody else, my friend.

actually Cintron should fight Williams...the winner gets the winner or Cotto vs. Margarito.

That's what I was thinking. They can do it in PR too.

My WW skillz are mad. Other than Tall Paul's crazy win tonight.

But seriously Tam, I think you are the only person on this entire forum that thinks Marge beat williams. That should tell you something.

Even groupie troll Double knows that Tall Paul won.

I really have no idea how you could score 7 or more rounds for Margarito in the Williams fight.

A rought outline of the rankings sans Mayweather might be something like Cotto, Mosley, Williams, Margarito, perhaps followed by the winner of Clottey-Judah, Quintana, Cintron and Collazo and the winner of Berto-Rodriguez.

Nobody has a mandate yet. The winner of Cotto-Margarito will have plenty of options.
