Good call. That would be a great fight.

I have a hard time seeing Williams getting more than 7. I thought it was 7-5 and closer to 6-6 than 8-4.

The Quintana win is better than everything on Margarito's resume. Not to mention the Margarito win

You'll need to do better than that.

I could give half a shit who thinks what. I've been around the sport long enough and am confident enough in my own abilities in assessing a fight, that what anyone else thinks on any boxing related topic, has absolutely nothing to do with what I think. I'm more than comfortable with that as well.

Same here. That is truly tam tam's strangest moment.

I was rooting for marge too, big style, because I bet on him. But he won 4 rounds, he didn't even start fighting until late on.

I thought Donnybrook may have had Margarito, but I could be wrong.

I know some ringside press had Margarito or a draw.

He had Williams hurt late in that fight and Williams looked like he saved everything he had for a last round effort.

It was hardly a real decisive win, IMO.

Don't you understand though, in some cases the majority vote rules.

If I scored Malignaggi over Cotto, and I was literally the only person that thought he won the fight, I think I might have to concede that I was wrong, and rescore the fight, otherwise I would just be stubborn and closed minded.

Margarito didn't even come close to winning that fight.

Donny didn't score it for Marge.

    How did you score it?

If any press had it a draw or marge winning, I can more or less guarantee it was maxboxing, who are basically in love with marge and want to have his babies.

Giving Margarito 6 rounds is a stretch to me. Williams clearly won 5 of the first 6 and at least 2 of the last 6. No way did Margarito even win 6 rounds of the fight.

Then it was someone else's score I'm remembering.

    I had it 7-5.

Rules for what? You think what YOU THINK makes any difference to what I think? You can go by majority rules all you wish. I care not how you come to decide what it is you decide.

And you saying that Margarito didn't win, is doing what? Do you feel the need to repeat it to me, in some kind of effort to get me to say "Oh, you're right. My bad"?

Kevin Iole had it for Margarito, but it wasn't just him.

I didn't say I had it 6-6, but I can see that score easier than 8-4.

Not at all, I'm just encouraging you to rewatch and rescore the fight. And it not just what I THINK. It's what the overwhelming majority think.

In most cases of close fights, I can see a difference of opinion and there ALWAYS is some. But this fight wasn't close, there was only 1 winner and that was tall paul.

Out of the first half of the fight, how many rounds did you give williams?

Most of the time the majority just echoes what they heard on the broadcast or a "feel" they get for who won from watching a fight.

I'm never convinced that large numbers actually sit down and watch a fight that closely and keep a running, written scorecard and come up with justifications in their mind for a fighter winning each of the twelve rounds.

Hardcore boxing fans do though, and that's more the majority I'm talking about, not the majority that vote on HBO polls.

I don't re-score fights. Never have, never will. It's a worthless practice, IMO. I shouldn't need to explain why.

And again, I don't care if I'm the only person in the entire world who thinks Margarito won. They are MY rankings, not "the overwhelming majority's rankings" and thats all I need to say about it.

Do you have some desire to be right all the time? Does it make you so uncomfortable when somebody thinks something different to you or that vaunted "overwhelming majority"?

And I have no idea what rounds I gave to Williams or Margarito. It was a year ago. I'm not debating the scores with you, because I don't care what score you or anyone else had.

Isn't that an incredibly ignorant attitude? If that's really true, that you only care what you think about certain fighters, how you score fights etc etc, why even post on a boxing forum?

Why not just sit alone, watching boxing, scoring fights by yourself, and turning fights off before the judges score, and deciding who won in your own personal boxrec

The reason I am getting hung up about this fight is nothing to do with majority vote or anything else really, it's more just that I really can't see how marge came anywhere close to winning, and I wanted him to win.

I don't know, take a recent fight, the pacman - marquez rematch. I scored it for pacman, but I can absolutely see if beign scored for marquez.

But this fight, Paul was just such a clear winner, I'm usually not this gung ho about scoring of close fights, but this fight in particular, I find it impossible to see marge winning more than 5 rounds, let alone 7.

I don't even really care about the majority vote, I'm not one to care about that at all, I was just trying to convince you that you were obviously stoned off your bollocks when you scored that fight, had nats in your eyes, maybe one of those big australian hunting spiders on your face.

How is it? I share thoughts on fighters, up-coming fights and I enjoy hearing what others think. Enjoying what others think and sharing thoughts, is not the same thing as consuming what others say and using it as justification for your own thoughts. Own your opinion, Mex.

    I already do that.

Thats fine. This is boxing where there is never a consensus on anything. The very scoring system that decides who wins and loses on the cards is purely subjective and yet you find this kind of thing now, difficult to move past? It makes little sense.

Whats your point there? If you think Pacquiao won, then you think Pacquiao won. If you think he won a lose fight, then you think he won a close fight. It doesn't mean you're right or wrong, it means thats simply what you think.

You don't have to think it's possible. You're free to write me off as a troll, or whatever it is you call these people who think so left of the box that you cannot find a rational reason for them doing so. It matters little to me what you think of my ability to score a fight.

Don't bring it up if it's of no significance to your own opinion. When I want the majority's thoughts to be my own, I'll ask.

LOK I'll eat your asshole alive

this fight will happen! Williams just butt rapped that boy and Cotto is going to sodomize Margarito and have him living in tijuana serving enchaladas to tourists..

    then.. Cotto-Williams

Cotto is really going to whup him, put his penis in his butt for sure

He retired to avoid getting KTFO and keep his crappy little undefeated record. What a joke! He ducked Margarito for years, wants nothing to do with Cotto and knows Williams will f*ck his asshole alive.

Tam, don't be absurd. Who else have I called a troll apart from Double?

I guess the difference is, I know that you know your boxing. You also seem to be able to score a fight. Which makes it odd for me that you scored this for williams.

Also, I sort of expect that most of the time, you actually believe your statements/opinions.

People like double don't, they just come out with retarded bollocks just to be trolls.

    Hence - the troll statement.

People can say whatever they want, and as long as they really believe it, they are not being trolls.

Maybe I'm giving Double credit for not being a complete retard, but I don't think he believes most of what he types.

I'm pretty sure Donny said he scored it a draw.

Bottom line, it was a close fight, regardless of how many times you tell us Margarito won four rounds tops. We all watched the fight, and we all saw him sweep the second half, save for the final round. Give him just ONE other round and what do you get? He retains his title.

Who cares about Mayweather. He is retired.

I care about number 1 (Cotto) and number 2 (Williams) fighting. Cotto-Williams would be an incredible fight.

Yeah I've heard that too but...come on. Makes absolutely no sense and I doubt it very, very, VERY much. If it IS true, I would lose all respect for "Minstrel" May.

Signing with the UFC would be a dream come true for me as a personal hater,.. his safety barrier will be aaaaalllllll GONE,.. and those illegal impliments will be completely useless,.. infact,...pulling the backtwist will end up with him being slammed on the back of his neck,.. and once he loses he'll pull a very bewildered bitch fit in that cage which has the audience howling with laughter and disbelief,.."Oh my god!".. then he'll go home screaming and screaming within a delirium of unbearable trauma as the result of extreme adversity against his narcissm, then he'll maul some passing little girl and put her into a critical condition, ...then he'll be sent to prison :bears:.
