The last guy was a scrub, now this guy Latimore (who got stopped by IAN GARDNER) What gives? :dunno: He's back :notallthere: Is he damaged goods or is his chin made of glass? Why these super soft fights back to back?
Lattimore was a great amateur, but his handlers got a bit overzealous in matching him up with Gardner early in his career after previously sending him soft. Easy to take shit for granted when you train in and fight out of the Midwest. The loss spooked him a bit, but I think he's finally over it. Not that Im saying he beats Sechew tonight, but it wouldn't surprise me to at least see him go some rounds.
Good info man, Latimore is already making me eat my words. He took round 1 Thats one aggressive southpaw
I am a Latimore fan now. The first to stop Sechew in brutal fashion. In between the round prior Powell was talking something to the effect of Verno Phillips isn't good enough, he'd rather fight Sergio Mora. Well he aint fighting either now. :kick:
That was an entertaining fight with a disappointing ending. Head snapped back or not I thought the fight should have gone on. Powell was obviously not seriously hurt. A stupid strategy for sure by Powell but it looked like he was playing possum with Lattimore and trying to get him to punch himself out. Powell isn't a bad fighter. He could beat anybody in that division (mediocre as it is) on any given night. He could also lose to anybody to, as witnessed last night. I thought it was obvious he was the more talented of the two guys...........unfortunately, he wasn't the smartest. Lattimore has a nice straight left, but I'm not sure he's going very far with it.
I like Latimore's aggresive style alot. He forced the action to Powell, who likes to fight at a more conservative pace that favours his style. Latimore instantly reminded me of Judah from the start of the fight, and I knew it was only a matter of time until he got the stoppage on Powell who looked very uncomfortable.
It was obvious to me that he was the less talented fighter, who relies on his smarts to get through tough fights... in this case though the difference in talent was too great.
I agree however that the stoppage was premature, there should be a rematch. If not, then I'd love to see a matchup between Lattimore & Kirkland on B.A.D. That would be an explosive fight! Powell still isnt a bad fighter, but his chin is highly suspect, which is what will hold him back from being elite.
Possibly. I'd like to see Kirkland in tough a couple more times before I jump on his bandwagon though.
I fixed it for you. You'd figure a guy that goes by "the iron horse" monicker would be a sturdy and durable f'er.
He was never on the canvas, I don't even think he was close to going on the canvas. It was a premature stoppage. He was even talking to the ref part way through telling him not to stop it...........like he was trying to make Lattimore punch himself out.
Latimore hit Sechew with many unanswered punches, Sechew wobbled back into the ropes and DeAndre let lose more shots and the ref stepped in. It was legit IMO. Sechew looked like a fool in front of the hometown crowd. Looked to me like he didn't train very hard for this guy, it looked like Powell gassed.
That's an EXAGGERATION... Granted, REED DOESN'T Have a Big Problem w/the Stoppage, but it Certainly WASN'T "Brutal":nono:... Powell NEVER Left his Feet or even SAGGED Into the Ropes... REED Would Take the Time to List Fights that were MORE Brutal, but he'd B Posting til the End of 2008.... GOOD Win for Latimore, but Not a "Brutal" Win by Any Means... REED:kidcool:
Powell did backpedal into the ropes several times and took more flush shots than I have ever seen him take up till the stoppage. From another southpaw mind you. Some say he was "playing possum" I dont think so :nono: Dude was genuinely hurt and I don't think he took Latimore seriously. http://sports.espn.go.com/broadband/video/videopage?&brand=null&videoId=3438736&n8pe6c=1
NONE of what U Say is Necessarily FALSE AND Powell's Head was Being SNAPPED BACK a Bit Toooooooo MUCH for Somebody "Playing Possum"... Nonetheless, it WASN'T a "Brutal" KO...Shit, it WASN'T even DECISIVE.... REED:hammert:
Wasn't decisive?:dunno: I did notice Powell immdiately complaining to the ref after the stoppage. You want to see a rematch:crafty: Surely Powell could only do and prepare better in a re... Hell the whole fight was brutal, from beginning to end. Powell did his own share of bringing the pain, both guys visibly hurting the other several times throughout the fight. One of the best fights I have seen on WNF altogether. Since Powell was ranked #1 by the IBF I would like to see how Latimore is brought up in the rankings following this war.
You better watch who you're messin' with. I'm going to be the "Next American Heavyweight Champion"! :warning:
