Just as I hoped...get ready for the fistic version of Giants-Patriots. No, I don't think Calzaghe is as good as the Patriots were but it'll be as big an upset.

I have a feeling that Jones-Calzaghe won't happen.

 

I feel like it's destined to happen but hey, wouldn't surprise me at allt o see Calzaghe take the rest of the year off while he and Warren look in another direction. I believe Calzaghe wants Roy and vice versa. But I'm nto sure Warren wants that.

Roy is f*cking shot. Why is this fight being made? Pavlik is CLEARLY the more difficult and meaningful fight. This is BS.

 

I hope so,..but from Calzaghe's point of view, what's the point?.. is it all to do with just the money?... How are they going to sell this shit when Calzaghe has openly admitted that Roy is well and truelly past his peak, he beats Roy and then what does he expect? massive praise? p4p greatest of all time stature?.

If it does happen I'll be hoping Roy can pull it off just out of sheer spite, because it's a useless money making event that has no significance, and just plain hardcore Oscar De La Hoya.

 

Tito-Roy did 500k + buys. Selling this won't be the hard part. Getting the two to agree on a contract...well that's a different story.

I don't know if Pavlik is in THAT much of a rush to face Calzaghe. Word is they had an agreement with the Rubio camp for their next fight before last Saturday.

 

Calzaghe is a bitch. Calzaghe and his management won't fight Pavlik because they know Pavlik would whup this welsh fraud, and then shove his snake deep into his welsh bumhole.

 

Calzaghe isn't on Titos level as a draw. Calzaghe managed to set a record twice last year for the lowest ratings on WCB ever.

Yes I actually contradicted myself there, I thought outloud about "How could you sell the fight" from a hardcore fans perspective, but the mainstream are more of an apathetic foolish bunch, Jones would probably bring more to the table money-wise,.. and it would probably sell better than any of the other proposed matchups except for perhaps a fight with Pavlik, but from a point of view about closing the book on his career, his legacy??..is a shot Roy the ultimate cherry on top?..

He'll fight him, if he gets past Jones. It's just doesn't make sense for each fighter. And as Jake reported DAYS ago, Pavlik-Rubio was already in place before the Lockett fight. All that Calzaghe talk after was to save face.

No matter what rumors you have heard about Pavlik's next fight it doesn't change the fact that they offered Calzaghe the fight and he didn't take it. If it's such an easy fight, take it and prove it. He's not willing to do that. He's chasing old ass jones who hold no belts and hasn't beat anyone good for ages.

 

One thing that gnaws at me though...why hasn't Jones-Calzaghe been made yet? I still go back to what Hopkins said about a potential Jones-Calzaghe bout. We'll see...

 

I dont know why your so excited about this, we all know Roy's shot, he himself knows he's shot, he was shot 5 years ago... but in pugilist history the details of the day DIM DOWN, and it will instead be skimmed across as,... "Joe Calzaghe invaded America and took out thier best fighters,.. Bernard Hopkins, and Roy Jones consecutively",..can't you feel the BURN off that kind've symbolism?..

 

After Jones, who will be next for Calzaghe?

Emile Griffith?

Don't laugh...that's three more HOF names for Calzaghe to add to his resume.

 

I don't think it's a given that Joe beats Roy.. even as washed up as Roy is..

and Joe is the smart one to avoid Pavlik.. he'd get murdered in that fight

 

I'm excited because it's a no-lose situation for Roy. Look at all the threads re: this fight. "Jones is shot."
