Can Cotto OUTMAN Margarito in a fight. I don't think he can. I don't think Cotto will be able to keep Margarito off him and outbox him for 12 rounds. At some point he is going to HAVE to stand and trade with Margarito to gain his respect. Margarito is going to have his moments, no doubt about it. And if Cotto gets hurt like he has before, he is GONE. This fight is so hard to call. Cottos more skilled, but Margarito is tougher, has a better chin, and is a very good all round fighter with every punch in the book. I can see Cotto having trouble with margaritos lead uppercuts. Cotto is in trouble here.
I think it will turn into a fight at some point. Margarito doesn't come out swinging when he starts his fights. That's when Cotto will attack the body. By the 6th round or so, Cotto will have leveled the playing field in regards to brawling and eventually win a decision. As good as Margarito is, I just can't see him winning.
Cotto is a deceptively fast and accurate puncher. If Margarito tries that wide ass lead uppercut bullshit hes gonna get clocked hard by overhands (though with the way Cotto tucks his chin, he might be able to find some success with the uppercut, but NOT as a lead!). Margarito is a strong mofo no doubt, but his punches are sloppy and wide as hell; Cottos short, accurate punches are gonna expose that. Those short, crisp punches are gonna win him the fight, inside and out.
Cotto will bash Margarito to the body...then cut of the head at some point after round 7.... COTTO BY KO...:warning:
I don't think he is fast he just fights at the right distance and keeps his punches short and is accurate.
okay..Holler points still stand..Cotto is going to beat Marg to the punch in the inside or from the outside...
Cotto certainly makes it a more dangerous fight by standing there and trading....but i still think he'd get the better of it...He's got the quicker hands and shorter punches....however, i think Margarito takes a shot better....so although i think Cotto still gets the better of the action generally, Margarito could buzz him with one shot and have him in a lot of trouble.
i think sooner or later it's gonna happen. Hell that's why most people wanna see this fight. I think both guys will have their moments during exchanges. I really wanna see how Margarito handles Cotto's body punches throughout the fight. If Cotto slows him down he can pick him apart and stop him late. Otherwise Margarito will keep coming. should be an awesome fight.
Well, for all who believe that Cotto is gunna "outslug, outmonster, out-tough Margarito".. Im afraid you will be saying,.. "could've, could've, could've if he chose to" after the fight, as Cotto will most certainly be fighting off the backfoot the way he did against Abdullaev, Ndou, and Mosely, I have no doubts about that. In a wild, wreckless brawl, Margarito eats that arse. :crafty:
dsimon writes: Cotto has been getting better and better. Fighting against great comp and developing new approaches. Cotto has the range, skills and athletic ability to make this fight easy if he does not make any mistakes. Margarito has to really press on Cotto and hope that Cotto makes a mental error, like trying to slug it out against Torres. I don't see it happening. Cotto has the demeanor of a Cossack hitman.... ruthless and efficient, not ready to make a lot of mistakes that will cost him. Kaulki will be broke and crying ray::crying:
I disagree completely. IMO.. Marg is tough for sure... and has a lot of pressure.. but his shots are wide and sometimes looping and he's slow.. Cotto is a precision sharp puncher with improved Defense and awesome offense.. IMO the only one in trouble here is Marg and his toughness will only allow him to take a long beating
Cotto will most likely try to box and pick his spots. And during some points, Margarito will force him to brawl. I think Cotto will hold his own although he'll take his lumps in the process, en route to winning a 8-4 type over Margarito (so Lederman will have it even).
When Margarito starts to tear Cotto's fists off with his teeth, he'll run alright, he's done it before, and against Antonio, you better believe he'll do it again, so Double L's point in advance is quite valid:cheer:.
I think Cotto will start to realize that he has been moved softly. When he finally fights a man his size, he will realize he is a fraud. He will run, run and run some more and be beaten to a pulp. He will then look for a place to lie down and quit in round 11. I think that is how it will go down.
I thought it was Attraction... :dunno: Either way, he called it exactly right. Good for him. If only he wasn't a complete nonse with a thing for Mister Reed's kids... :shit::shit: MTF
