As much as boxing fans hate seeing elite fighters take on soft touches, the hate for Mora around here by some is pretty strong. I'm sure a lot of people would like to see the slaughter. I'm still hoping for Wlad vs Zab Judah matchup. ::
Pavlik-Rubio would most likely land on HBO or Showtime Pavlik-Mora will most likely land on PPV. Not quite as cut and dry as which mismatch you'd rather watch.

A Mora fight would be more competitive no question. It's hard to even argue that a Rubio fight will be more entertaining, as I don't think it would last longer than a couple of rounds. Both fights suck, though, and I say that as a Pavlik apologist.
You know... there are "really" fights you think one guy will win..? then there are some where you REALLY REALLY know? I think need to start bringing in "Super Duper" if you don't mind... maybe even BOLD it?:::hammert:

Good post. I was going to say the same thing. If you're looking for a terrible style matchup for Kelly, this is it. Arum would be better off making a fight between Pavlik and Winky. Wink is awkward, but he stands directly in front of you and Kelly has NO issues punching through gloves. Pavlik's a big enough puncher to take Wink out. Why fight a guy who will AT BEST fight a Michael Spinks vs Larry Holmes type fight? :dunno:

From an in-ring stand-point, it doesn't make a lot of sense, but Pavlik isn't a huge star yet and Mora would sell tickets (in certain areas) and probably bring more attention than some other likely opponents...and Mora comes from Arum's core demographic.

I dont even think Mora's that bad a style matchup for Kelly. Forrest woulda w/o question beaten Mora had he only used his jab. Pavlik will bust Mora in the face with the jab consistently, and bang his right to the body to make Serihoe drop his hands, then he'll light him up to the head.
Kelly is a straight up and down fighter who needs distance to punch effectively. Mora is crap but he does ride with shots well and I fully expect Kelly to miss a ton over the top. Mora's gameplan will be to stay FAR on the outside and hug Kelly whenever they get close. Stay inside Kelly's reach, shoe shine then hold. Vernon's jab comes off faster and better than Pavlik's. Pavlik's got a damn good jab if you're standing there to take it. The more I think of it, Mora can definitely win rounds early but he'll put out so much effort he could very well run out of gas like Freitas did against Corrales. Corrales lost the first 6 rounds, but put so much mental pressure on Freitas that he folded.
Pavlik is pretty underrated as far as inside fighting goes. He's got a great hook to the body and some nice short uppercuts. He's not just a one two type of guy.
The Forrest of 08 definitely does not jab as well as Pavlik. The problem with Mora staying outside of Pavlik is that Kelly's reach is freakish. And not only that, but whilst Pavlik's hands arent really fast, his right hand is sneaky quick and its accurate as hell. Mora is screwed in this fight because Pavlik is not the typical mindless puncher. Kelly's very intelligent in there, and knows how to adjust, and knows how to place his punches. He's very good at just "feeling" guys with his jab, or right hand, then when they least expect it, he unloads with full power. My prediction for this fight is much PAIN for Mora. I dont think theres anyway to beat Pavlik unless you can hurt him. Mora cant hurt him, therefore he has no shot.
it's funny how Arum knocks the posibility of making fights with Roy or Hopkins because they are old fighters. Yet he considers putting Pavlik with Mayorga, Rubio, and Mora I guess if they are younger it's ok that either one of these guys against Pavlik is a total mismatch. Abraham just kod Miranda. It's the perfect time to put him with Pavlik. Abraham fighting Marquez and Pavlik fighting another scrub won't make their fight any bigger.
I agree ly legs, boxing fucking sux, I hate it, I aint watching these greedy fucken grubs dictate safe business decisions to us anymore, I hope the sport bursts up in flames, hopefully there's this sanctioned ban on boxing that comes from out of nowhere.
